Job summary

The Program Director leads the Diagnostic Medical Sonography program and, together with the Clinical Coordinator, integrates clinical education with didactic education.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Master's degree preferred.
  • Must be credentialed and in good standing with ARDMS (AB and OB/GYN).
  • Two years of full-time radiographer and/or sonographer experience.
  • Experience in curriculum development, instructional methods, evaluation, supervision, and student support.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the structure, daily operation, and overall effectiveness of the program.
  • Maintain and coordinate clinical affiliates and education centers.
  • Supervise the program's clinical component and evaluator relationships.
  • Act as liaison between clinical agencies and the college; maintain open lines of communication.
  • Provide student counseling and advising as needed.
  • Maintain student clinical records and quarterly grade calculations.
  • Ensure valid clinical evaluations by instructors, managers, staff sonographers, and students.
  • Review and revise clinical objectives to ensure learning quality.
  • Monitor and analyze student data (retention, credential pass rates, surveys).
  • Ensure accreditation standards are met and ARDMS/ARRT certifications are maintained.

Program Director, Diagnostic Medical Sonography (DMS)

Location: Central Ohio | Full-time | Reports to the Campus President

Overview

The Program Director leads the Diagnostic Medical Sonography program and, together with the Clinical Coordinator, is responsible for integrating clinical education with didactic education.

Responsibilities
  • Oversee the structure and daily operation of the program, including organization, administration, periodic review, evaluation, continued development, and overall effectiveness of the curriculum
  • Maintain the effectiveness of all clinical affiliates and clinical education centers
  • Coordinate, evaluate, and supervise the program's clinical component
  • Act as liaison between clinical agencies and the college, keeping open lines of communication with the Clinical Coordinator
  • Provide student counseling and advising as needed
  • Maintain student clinical records with the Clinical Coordinator, including calculation of quarterly grades
  • Maintain and encourage valid evaluation of each student by clinical instructors, department managers, staff sonographers, and students
  • Evaluate student performance during clinical visits
  • Review and revise performance objectives to ensure valid clinical learning experiences
  • Review the Clinical Competency Manual and additional policy handbooks annually
  • Track and analyze student data, including retention rates, credential pass rates, and employer/student surveys
  • Ensure the program is viable and meets accreditation standards
  • Maintain ARDMS and/or ARRT certification
Requirements
Education
  • Bachelor's degree required
  • Master's degree preferred
Credentials

Must be credentialed and in good standing with the ARDMS (AB and OB/GYN)

Experience
  • Proficiency in curriculum development, instructional methodologies, evaluation and assessment, supervision, instruction, education, and counseling
  • Appropriate credential(s) specific to one or more of the credentials offered
  • Equivalent of two years of full-time experience as a radiographer and/or sonographer
