Job summary

Morehouse School of Medicine in Atlanta seeks a Program Coordinator for the Teaching Academy. The role provides administrative and operational support to coordinate programs, events, and faculty development initiatives that promote excellence in medical education.

Position Summary

The Program Coordinator provides administrative and operational support for the Center for Teaching and Learning, Teaching Academy within Morehouse School of Medicine. This position is responsible for coordinating programs, events, and faculty development initiatives that promote excellence in medical education. The coordinator serves as the primary point of contact for academy leadership, collaborates with faculty and leadership, and ensures efficient implementation of the academy’s mission to foster innovation and scholarship in teaching.

Key Responsibilities
Program Administration
  • Coordinate all aspects of Teaching Academy programs, workshops, seminars, and faculty development events.
  • Manage program calendars, logistics, room bookings, materials, catering, and technology setup.
  • Track attendance, collect evaluations, and prepare summary reports on program outcomes.
  • Maintain an accurate database of Teachers of Distinction mentors/mentees, applicants, and program participants.
Communication & Outreach
  • Serve as the primary liaison for the Teaching Academy, responding to inquiries from faculty, staff, and external partners.
  • Develop and distribute newsletters, announcements, and promotional materials.
  • Support website and social media updates to highlight academy initiatives and achievements.
Faculty Support
  • Assist in the organization of professional development sessions, faculty mentoring programs, teaching awards, and recognition events.
Data & Reporting
  • Maintain program metrics and assist in preparing annual reports, accreditation materials, and strategic planning documents.
  • Collect and analyze feedback to support continuous quality improvement of programs.
Collaboration
  • Work closely with medical school departments, educational offices, and committees to align academy activities with institutional goals.
  • Provide administrative support to the Teaching Academy leadership team and committees, including scheduling, agenda preparation, and minute-taking.
Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree in education, Public Administration, or related field preferred.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 2-4 years of administrative or program coordination experience, preferably in education.
  • Experience supporting faculty development or educational programs strongly desired.
Preferred Qualifications

Skills and Competencies:

  • Strong organizational and project management skills with attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication, writing, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, learning management systems, and web publishing tools.
  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a dynamic academic environment.
