Job summary

The Chronicle Of Higher Education, Inc. is seeking a Program Coordinator for Student Conduct & Community Standards to support daily operations, investigations, and advocacy. You will help resolve alleged violations, train hearing officers, and contribute to a restorative justice initiative.

You will collaborate across campus, prepare hearings, generate reports, and participate in university committees while supporting students in crisis and ensuring compliance with FERPA, Clery, and Title IX.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's in higher education, student affairs, counseling, or related field from an accredited institution preferred.
  • 1-3 years of graduate or professional experience in student conduct in a college or university setting.
  • Awareness of federal and state compliance expectations, including FERPA, Clery, and Title IX.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and/or experience working with student conduct systems.
  • Experience investigating and managing student group and organizational conduct cases.
  • Experience working with conduct database software, particularly Maxient.

Responsibilities

  • Assist Director with the daily operation and functioning of the Student Conduct and Community Standards.
  • Investigate and adjudicate Student Code of Conduct policy violations for undergraduate/graduate/professional students and student groups/organizations.
  • Manage response to incoming Student Conduct Reports.
  • Engage in advocacy with students in crisis.
  • Assist with training University hearing officers.
  • Coordinate the recruitment, selection, training, and advising of hearing boards.
  • Assist with federal and state compliance that includes, but not limited to, Clery Act, FERPA, and Title IX.
  • Develop and implement educational sanctions for students responsible for violations of the Student Code of Conduct.
  • Provide leadership to the Student Conduct and Community Standards in the absence of the Director.
  • Recruit, supervise, train, and develop graduate students.
  • Assist with the development and advancement of a Conflict Resolution/Restorative Justice Program for the office.
  • Conduct reporting and tracking of all violations of the Student Code of Conduct and Rocket Care Reports through the Maxient database, and providing statistical reports and summaries as requested.
  • Assist in the coordination of the Campus Crime Statistic Report (Clery) and other reports.
  • Participate in programming and educational efforts within the Center for Advocacy and Student Experience.
  • Serve on university and divisional committees as assigned.

Job Description

Reporting to the Director, this position will assist in the dailyoperation and functioning of the office which resides in the Centerfor Advocacy and Student Experience (CASE) . This position will beresponsible for assisting in the resolution of complaints ofalleged violations of the Student Code of Conduct, serving as anAdministrative Hearing Officer, investigating student and studentgroup/organization misconduct, and providing advocacy for studentsexperiencing varying levels of crisis.

This position will also be responsible for developing and executingoffice outreach and programming, collaborating with other areasacross campus, assisting with the training of University HearingOfficers and Hearing Boards, and working with the Director todevelop and advance a Conflict Resolution Program. This positionwill also be responsible for preparing materials for hearings,generating reports/data using the conduct database, and serving onUniversity and Divisional committees.

Minimum Qualifications

Education/Experience/Licensure:

  • Bachelor's degree or Master's degree in higher education, studentaffairs, counseling, or related field from an accreditedinstitution preferred. Experience in lieu of a degree will be takeninto consideration.
  • 1 - 3 years of graduate or professional experience in studentconduct in a college or university setting.
  • Awareness of federal and state compliance expectations, includingFERPA, Clery, and Title IX.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and/or experience working with studentconduct systems.
  • An understanding of the current issues in the field of studentconduct and advocacy as well as trends in higher education.
  • Experience investigating and managing student group andorganizational conduct cases
  • Experience working with individuals involved in sexual misconductand intimate partner violence cases (complainants, respondents, andwitnesses).
  • Experience working with and supporting students in crisis.
  • Experience working with conduct database software, particularlyMaxient
  • Strong oral and written communication.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks.
  • Ability to analyze complex situations, determine facts, exercisesound judgement, identify solutions, and apply policies,procedures, and laws.
  • Ability to work evening and weekend hours as necessary.
