Job description

Program Coordinator
Atra: Center for Rabbinic Innovation
Who We Are

Working at Atra: Center for Rabbinic Innovation means joining a lean, dynamic team committed to strengthening rabbinic leadership and supporting a thriving Jewish future. Atra equips rabbis with practical tools, adaptive strategies, and community support to meet the evolving needs of the Jewish world. Through cohort-based programs, learning initiatives, and field‑building work, we help rabbis lead with vision, resilience, and impact.

As an organization, we are in a period of growth and evolution, expanding our role not only as a provider of high-quality programs, but as a connector, convener, and catalyst within the broader rabbinic ecosystem. Our work increasingly integrates programs, partnerships, research, and innovation to support the field as a whole.

Atra is fiscally sponsored by Hillel International. Our team is primarily based in the New York City area, with a hybrid work model that includes regular in‑person collaboration and occasional travel.

Position

The Program Coordinator plays a central role in supporting the execution of Atra’s programs. This role ensures that the logistics, communications, and systems behind our programmatic offerings run smoothly and effectively.

This role supports a diverse portfolio of work across Atra’s core priorities, including cohort‑based programs, convenings, working groups, and emerging initiatives, helping ensure consistency, coordination, and high‑quality execution across the organization.

This role is well suited for someone who enjoys making complex work come together behind the scenes. Your work helps ensure that program timelines stay on track, participant communications are clear and timely, and the day‑to‑day operations of programs are organized and well‑executed.

This is a hybrid NYC‑based role (2+ days per week in person at our Midtown NYC office), with occasional evening events and light travel for programs and convenings.

Who You Are

You are highly organized and detail‑oriented, with 1–3 years of relevant experience. You enjoy turning plans into clear, well‑executed work.

In this role, you will thrive in a fast‑moving environment where strong systems and thoughtful coordination help programs run smoothly. You are comfortable managing logistics, tracking details, and communicating clearly with participants and team members. You take initiative, follow through, and are willing to roll up your sleeves. You are energized by mission‑driven work and excited to contribute to a growing organization.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Program Coordination & Logistics
  • Coordinate scheduling, materials, and logistics for programs, workshops, and events
  • Support coordination of convenings, working groups, and emerging initiatives as needed
  • Support onboarding and offboarding processes for participants
  • Maintain program calendars and track key deadlines and milestones
Communications & Participant Support
  • Draft and send participant communications (emails, reminders, updates)
  • Serve as a point of contact for participant inquiries
  • Support recruitment and application processes
  • Partner with Atra’s communications team to support promotion of programs and initiatives, including providing content, timelines, and updates for newsletters, email campaigns, and digital platforms
Data & Systems
  • Maintain accurate program data across systems (CRM, spreadsheets, registration tools)
  • Track participation and engagement metrics
  • Support evaluation processes, including surveys and data collection
Team Coordination
  • Support coordination across the organization to ensure alignment and smooth execution for all program‑related work
  • Help strengthen workflows and systems that support program delivery
Core Competencies
  • Highly Organized and Reliable: Keeps multiple moving pieces on track with strong follow‑through
  • Detail‑Oriented Executor: Delivers high‑quality work across logistics, communications, and data
  • Clear Communicator: Communicates thoughtfully and professionally with participants and team members
  • Collaborative Team Player: Thrives in a small, fast‑moving team and contributes to shared success
  • Systems‑Minded: Looks for opportunities to improve processes and workflows
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as Jewish Education, Social Sciences, Public Administration, or similar
  • 1–3 years of experience in program coordination, operations, or similar roles
  • Experience supporting events, programs, or cohort‑based experiences
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines in a fast‑paced environment
  • Strong interpersonal skills and comfort working with diverse participants and stakeholders
  • Comfort working with digital tools such as Google Workspace, project management platforms (e.g., Asana), CRM systems, and communication tools
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team‑based environment
  • A relationship‑driven approach, with an interest in supporting meaningful participant experiences
  • Familiarity with Jewish communal environments is a plus
