Job summary

Chico State Enterprises is seeking a Program Coordinator for the Career Development and Operations within the MESA Engineering Program (MEP) at Chico State Campus, eligible for partial telecommuting. POSITION: Program Coordinator – Career Development and Operations (Open to CSE Employees)

STATUS: Full-Time / Benefited / Hourly / Non-Exempt

COMPENSATION: $26.00 - $32.00 per hour

DEPARTMENT: MESA Engineering Program (MEP)

LOCATION: Chico State Campus; OCNL 114/102C – This position is eligible for partial telecommuting.

RESIDENCY: Candidate must be a California resident. Chico State Enterprises is not a sponsoring agency for staff and management positions (i.e., H-1B Visas).

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: The primary goal of this program is to support low Income and first –generation students matriculate through the College of Engineering, Computer Science, and Construction Management fields. Working under the direction of the director, the MESA program coordinator – Career Development and Operations provides administrative, fiscal, and programmatic support for the Chico State MESA Engineering Program.

This position is responsible for planning, coordinating, and implementing the MESA Program's biannual Technical Career Fair, one of the program's signature events that connects students with employers seeking engineering, computer science, construction management, and STEM talent. The position also supports day-to-day program operations, fiscal administration, event planning, data collection, employer relations, and student success initiatives.

The coordinator works collaboratively with university departments, industry partners, faculty, students, alumni, and community organizations to advance the mission of the MESA Program. The MESA coordinator also solicits industry and agency partners to participate in organized events that benefit current students and assists with the Giving Day campaign

EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS: Graduation from a four-year college or university (by the start date) with a degree in engineering, computer science, construction management, another STEM field, behavioral sciences, public or business administration, or a related discipline with relevant job experience.

Demonstrated ability to plan, schedule, and coordinate activities, as well as compile and prepare written reports, is required. Professional experience supporting STEM student success initiatives and familiarity with employer recruitment and workforce development practices are preferred. Experience working in a multiethnic environment; prior experience planning career fairs, employer engagement events, or large-scale conferences, and knowledge of Chico State Enterprises’ fiscal policies and procedures are also preferred.

COMPLIANCE REQUIREMENTS:

Satisfactory completion of a background check (including a criminal records check) is required for employment. Chico State Enterprises will make a conditional offer of employment, which may be rescinded if the background check reveals disqualifying information, and/or it is discovered that the candidate knowingly withheld or falsified information. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the continued employment of a current Chico State Enterprises employee who was conditionally offered the position.

BENEFITS:

Benefits for employees working 30 hours or more per week include employer paid life insurance ($50,000) and long-term disability; options for health, dental, and vision insurance; FSA; paid holidays including 1 personal holiday; vacation accrual (initially 10 days/year); sick leave (up to 12 days/year); employer contributions to a 403(b) retirement plan (up to 8%).
