POSITION SUMMARY: The industry partnership and recruiting coordinator will develop and strengthen relationships between the Construction Management program and the construction industry while leading employer recruiting and student-industry engagement activities. The position serves as a primary point of contact for industry recruiters, employers, alumni, professional organizations, and advisory partners; coordinates recruiting programs and major industry events; supports internship and full-time employment pathways; and tracks outcomes to improve recruiting effectiveness and advance program goals.
The role works collaboratively with students, faculty, staff, and external partners to expand employer participation, increase career opportunities, and enhance the visibility and impact of the Construction Management program.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Industry Partnerships & Employer Relations (35%)
- Serve as a primary point of contact for construction industry recruiters, employers, alumni, professional organizations, and other external stakeholders.
- Develop, maintain, and expand strategic relationships with construction employers and industry stakeholders that support student recruiting, internships, full-time employment, program engagement, and collaboration opportunities.
- Recruit new employer partners and deepen engagement with existing partners through regular outreach, meetings, site visits, and participation in industry events.
- Maintain accurate employer and industry contact information, engagement history, and recruiting activities in appropriate databases or systems.
- Support the Construction Management Industry Advisory Council through member engagement, meeting coordination, golf tournament planning, communications, and strategic initiatives, as assigned.
Recruiting Programs & Industry Events (35%)
- Manage the construction management recruiting calendar and coordinate employer information sessions, interviews, classroom or student-organization engagement, and other on-campus recruiting activities.
- Plan and execute career fairs and other large-scale recruiting or networking events, including employer outreach and recruitment, registration, communications, logistics, student promotion, and day-of-event coordination.
- Promote internship and full-time employment opportunities to students through email, department website, digital calendars, and other communication channels.
- Develop strategies that connect employers with students and increase employer participation in recruiting programs throughout the academic year.
- Coordinate facilities, interview spaces, event services, and other operational needs associated with recruiting activities.
Student Placement, Career Connections & Outcomes (20%)
- Provide students with information about construction management career opportunities, employer recruiting processes, internships, and full-time employment pathways.
- Collaborate with faculty and staff to support internship placement, student-industry engagement, and recruiting-related programming.
- Track internship and employment outcomes, employer participation, event attendance, and other recruiting metrics; prepare reports and analyze results to improve programs and support assessment needs.
- Collect feedback from students, employers, and other stakeholders to identify recruiting trends, workforce needs, and opportunities for program improvement.
Communications & Program Operations (10%)
- Develop and distribute employer- and student-facing communications related to recruiting, industry engagement, events, and career opportunities.
- Coordinate relevant website, social media, job-board, and public-facing content and collaborate with program or university communications staff as appropriate.
- Support budget tracking, vendor coordination, event purchasing, and other administrative processes associated with industry relations and recruiting programs.
- Supervise or coordinate student employees/assistants supporting recruiting and industry engagement activities, as assigned.
- Represent the program at department, college, university, and external meetings or committees and perform other related duties as assigned.
EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS:
Required Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Business, Communications, Human Resources, Marketing, or a related field.
- Minimum of three years of progressively responsible experience in construction, employer relations, recruiting, career services, workforce development, program/project management, or a related field.
- Demonstrated ability to build and maintain effective relationships with employers, industry partners, students, faculty, staff, and other external constituents.
- Strong written, verbal, presentation, organizational, customer service, and project management skills.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple concurrent events, projects, timelines, and priorities with a high degree of independence and professionalism.
- Experience using databases, customer relationship management systems, spreadsheets, or other systems to manage contacts, recruiting activity, and program information.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Five or more years of professional experience in the construction industry, construction recruiting, workforce development, or higher education employer relations.
- Experience planning career fairs, large-scale employer engagement events, information sessions, or interview programs.
- Experience supporting an industry advisory board or council, alumni network, development/advancement activity, or other external partnership program.
- Experience working with college students and supporting internship or full-time employment pathways.
ADDITIONAL WORK CONDITIONS/REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to travel locally and regionally to support employer engagement activities, recruiting events, industry meetings, student competitions, and related programs. Occasional out-of-state travel may be required. Must possess a valid REAL ID-compliant driver’s license or passport for domestic air travel and have access to reliable transportation.
- Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends to support career fairs, recruiting events, employer advisory meetings, and other program activities.
- Ability to perform standard office and event-support duties, including communicating effectively in person and by telephone; operating computers, and standard office equipment; reading and reviewing digital and printed materials; and working in office and event environments.
- Ability to sit or stand for extended periods and move throughout event and meeting spaces as needed.
- Ability to occasionally lift, carry, and transport event materials and equipment weighing up to approximately 20 pounds.
- Ability to travel to off-campus meetings, recruiting events, industry locations, and other program-related activities as required.
- This position is expected to work 30 hours per week.
COMPLIANCE REQUIREMENTS:
- Candidate must be in possession of valid driver's license and automobile liability insurance. Participation in the DMV Employer Pull Notice Program (driving record) is required. The candidate will be required to update their insurance with Chico State Enterprises Human Resources when necessary.
- Satisfactory completion of a background check (including a criminal records check) is required for employment. Chico State Enterprises will make a conditional offer of employment, which may be rescinded if the background check reveals disqualifying information, and/or it is discovered that the candidate knowingly withheld or falsified information. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the continued employment of a current Chico State Enterprises employee who was conditionally offered the position.
