City of Huntington Beach seeks a Part-Time Program Coordinator – Contract Classes & Sponsorships at City Hall. The role focuses on expanding recreation programming and sponsorship opportunities, working up to 19 hours weekly, with some evenings/weekends possible.
Requirements include a high school diploma and 3 years of related experience in recreation or contract class management. A California driver’s license and CPR/First Aid/AED certificates are required within 3 months.

We are currently seeking the right person to serve as a Part-Time Program Coordinator – Contract Classes & Sponsorships within the Community & Library Services Department.
This exciting opportunity is based at City Hall and plays an important role in facilitating and expanding recreation programming and sponsorship opportunities throughout the community. The ideal candidate has at least three (3) years of experience working with contract instructors, demonstrates strong communication and interpersonal skills, is highly collaborative, and thrives in a fast-paced environment where attention to detail is essential.
The selected candidate will work up to 19 hours per week, Monday through Friday, with occasional flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed.
Temporary/part-time employment is restricted to 1,000 hours within a 12-month period (July 1 – June 30) and does not qualify to receive City benefits, except those required by law. The City does not belong to the Social Security system. However, enrollment in an alternative retirement program is mandatory which requires an employee contribution of 7½% of base earnings to the Public Agency Retirement System (PARS). There are no rights to employment and employment may end with or without cause or advance notice. Further restrictions apply to CalPERS Retired Annuitants.
Note: The preceding functions have been provided as examples of the types of work performed by employees assigned to this job classification. The City at its discretion, may add, modify, change or rescind work assignments as needed.
Education: A high school diploma or equivalent certificate.
Experience: Three (3) years' directly related experience in recreation or contract class management.
Licenses/Certifications:
Employees regularly assigned/required to drive a city or personal vehicle in the course and scope of work shall be required to participate in the DMV Employer Pull Notice program due to the performance of field duties that may require operation of a City vehicle.
Public Employee Disaster Service Worker: In accordance with Government Code Section 3100, all Huntington Beach city employees are required to perform assigned disaster service worker duties in the event of an emergency or a disaster.
