Xcel Energy is seeking interns to support enterprise continuous improvement, learning, and operating system initiatives. You will help create process materials, analyze data, build dashboards, and assist with learning content delivery, working with cross-functional teams to drive program efficiency.

  • Current Student, Junior status (as of Fall 2027) or higher; Enrolled in an accredited college or university and pursuing a degree in Organizational Development, Industrial/Organizational Psychology, Human Resources, Business, Business Administration, Organizational Leadership, Management, Education, Curriculum Development, Process Improvement, or a related field of study.
  • Able to work full-time during the summer (up to 40 hours a week)/ part time during the school year (up to 20 hours a week) and commuting to the designated work location in-person, per our hybrid work policy.

Responsibilities

  • Support program and process development by creating process flows, documentation, standard work, job aids, and training materials.
  • Gather, analyze, and summarize data, feedback, KPIs, and survey results to identify trends, gaps, and improvement opportunities.
  • Create and update presentations, dashboards, trackers, templates, visual management tools, and other resources for leaders, teams, and program participants.
  • Assist with the design, development, and delivery of learning content, workshops, eLearning, facilitator guides, learner activities, and communication materials.
  • Partner with team members, subject matter experts, facilitators, and stakeholders to support project execution, training rollouts, cohort activities, and continuous improvement efforts.
  • Research industry best practices in Lean, operational excellence, organizational development, learning, and talent development to support recommendations and program enhancements.
  • Maintain program resources, SharePoint or Teams content, knowledge management materials, standards, procedures, and administrative records to support effective program operations.

Job description

Position Summary

Support enterprise continuous improvement, learning, and operating system initiatives through operational, administrative, communications, training, and project support. The role may contribute to the Lean Expert Program, enterprise learning experiences, One-Way Office initiatives, and broader deployment efforts by maintaining program materials, administering surveys, developing tools and documentation, supporting curriculum and content creation, assisting with live learning experiences, and helping employees apply skills in real work. Work alongside experienced practitioners and cross-functional partners to strengthen capability development, organizational design, coaching frameworks, process documentation, standards, breakthrough methodologies, and program efficiency. Assignments may vary by position and business need, providing opportunities to build collaborative relationships with team members and leaders while supporting project execution, participant experience, responsiveness, and continuous improvement across the organization.

Minimum Requirements

Preferred Qualifications
  • Current Grad Students are highly preferred to apply Analytical curiosity and ability to summarize data/results to support reporting and decision making.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365 applications; including Excel, PowerPoint, Forms, SharePoint, and Teams.
  • Strong written, verbal, presentation and facilitation skills and ability to communicate clearly with team members, leader and decision-making groups.
  • Interest or experience in learning and development, adult learning principles, ADDIE, eLearning tools, and training design.
  • Familiarity with process improvement; including process mapping, documentation, Visio, change management and organizational design
  • Strong attention to detail, adaptability, learn agility, manage multiple priorities and work independently on ambiguous tasks/projects.
Non‑Bargaining

The anticipated starting base pay for this position is: $19.50 to $24.50 per hour
