Job summary

South Dakota State University is currently seeking a Program and Tribal Relations Coordinator. In this position you will help support student success and be a collaborative team player. This position is located in Brookings , South Dakota. This position is a 12-month, full-time, benefits-eligible position.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Develop and coordinate programming that supports student success, belonging, and engagement, with a focus on strengthening relationships with Tribal Nations and advancing institutional support for Indigenous students, staff, and faculty.

QUALIFICATIONS

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS


  • Bachelor’s degree in English, Education, American Indian and Indigenous Studies, Social Sciences to include Psychology, or Sociology, History, Training and Development, Curriculum Design or a related field completed by start date

  • Valid driver’s license or ability to obtain one within 30 days of hire


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS


  • Experiential knowledge of tribal language, culture, and lifeways

  • Experience working with tribal communities

  • Demonstrated experience in program management or program evaluation

Employee will work in close proximity to a facility with stairs and elevator. However, some work will occur in other facilities on campus, off campus, and out of the area. The employee will engage in program set-up and clean-up including but not limited to tasks such as: carrying and stacking chairs; loading, unloading, setting-up and taking down supplies; giving campus tours; typing at standing or sitting desk; attending meetings with individuals and groups; and driving to off-site meetings and conferences.
