Job summary

Office of the Inspector General, U.S. Department of Justice seeks qualified candidates for GS-11/12/13 Program Analyst positions in the Evaluation & Inspection Division in Washington, DC. Qualifications

  • Ph.D. or J.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree; OR 1 year (52 weeks) of specialized experience at GS‑9; OR a combination of education and experience.
  • Specialized experience includes collecting and analyzing information from diverse data sources, evaluating internal and external policy, and communicating complex issues in writing and verbally.
  • Preparing segments of evaluation reports addressing productivity and efficiency, with conclusions and recommendations; using databases and spreadsheets to visualize data.
  • Presenting information to team or management; planning or leading evaluations or inspections; developing graphs and charts to present data.

Job description

Specialized Experience is paid or unpaid experience which has equipped you with the specific knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position.

GS‑11

You must have successfully completed a Ph.D or J.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree; OR have 1 year (52 weeks) of specialized experience at or equivalent to a GS‑9 Program Analyst Position; OR a combination of education and experience as listed below. Examples of specialized experience for the GS‑343‑11 level include but are not limited to:

  • 1) Collecting and analyzing information from diverse data sources including interviews;
  • 2) Evaluating internal and external policy;
  • 3) Communicating complex and/or controversial issues both in writing and verbally;
  • 4) Preparing segments of evaluation reports addressing an organization's productivity and efficiency, including conclusions and recommendations;
  • 5) Possessing sound knowledge of how to use various databases and spreadsheets, and developing graphs, charts, and other data visualizations to organize, analyze, and present a variety of data.
GS‑12

You must have 1 year (52 weeks) of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS‑11 grade level.

  • 1) Presenting information and data to members of a team or higher level management;
  • 2) Preparing segments of evaluation reports addressing an organization's productivity and efficiency, including conclusions and recommendations;
  • 3) Planning or leading evaluations or inspections;
  • 4) Possessing sound knowledge of how to use various databases and spreadsheets, and developing graphs, charts, and other data visualizations to organize, analyze, and present a variety of data.
GS‑13

You must have 1 year (52 weeks) of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS‑12 grade level.

  • 1) Presenting complex data in formal settings to higher level management;
  • 2) Preparing segments of evaluation reports addressing an organization's productivity and efficiency, including conclusions and recommendations;
  • 3) Planning and leading comprehensive evaluations or inspections;
  • 4) Possessing sound knowledge of how to use various databases and spreadsheets, and developing graphs, charts, and other data visualizations to organize, analyze, and present a variety of data.

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade level (or equivalent). You must meet all qualification requirements by the closing date of this announcement.
