Job summary

The Salvation Army in Biloxi, MS seeks a part-time Youth Activity Aide to assist with supervising children in activities such as Education, Recreation, Arts & Crafts and Physical Education.

Responsibilities include applying First Aid/CPR knowledge to ensure children's safety, monitoring activities for health and safety, and fostering positive relationships with participants and staff. A valid driver’s license and ability to work flexible hours are preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Six months' experience with children in educational, fitness, arts, crafts or similar activities.
• Valid state driver's license.
• CPR and First Aid Certification.
• Infant/Child CPR Certification.

Responsibilities

• Assist with supervising children in activities (Education, Recreation, Arts & Crafts, and Physical Education).
• Ensure health and safety by monitoring activities and applying first aid when needed.
• Respond calmly to emergencies and support staff during activities.

Schedule/Hours: Monday-Saturday (19 hours per week).This position is responsible for:Assists with the supervision of children participating in activities provided within the RJKCCC, such as: Education, Recreation, Arts & Crafts, and Physical Education.Key Responsibilities:Knowledge of the principles and practices of First Aid and C.P.R and ability to ensure the safety of children.Ability to monitor children’s activities to ensure their health and safety. Knowledge of the standard rules and techniques of athletic sports such as baseball, basketball, and football, etc.Ability to build effective and positive relationships with people of all ages. Ability to lead and motivate people participating in recreational activities.Ability to lead and motivate people participating in recreational activities.Ability to respond to emergency situations in a calm and appropriate manner.Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:Ability to meet attendance requirements.Ability to read, write, and communicate the English language.Duties are usually performed by combinations of sitting, standing, and walking on a frequent change basis.Work is performed in an indoor and outdoor recreational environment where there may be physical discomforts associated with changes in weather or discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirt, and the like.High school diploma or G.E.D., ANDSix months experience working with children in educational, fitness, arts, crafts and other activities in a similar environmentAny equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.Licenses and Certifications:Valid state driver's licenseCPR and First Aid CertificationInfant/Child CPR CertificationEqual Opportunity Employer: Veterans | Disabled
