Center for Integrative and Experiential Learning is seeking to hire a Program Advisor/Outreach Coordinator within our department.
The Center for Integrative and Experiential Learning ( CIEL ) is a comprehensive learning initiative to support all students in enhancing their Carolina education by connecting academics and beyond the classroom experiences. CIEL administers Graduation with Leadership Distinction ( GLD ) which recognizes students for their achievement in integrating learning within and beyond the classroom to lead. The CIEL Program Advisor and Event Coordinator will (1) advise students on Graduation with Leadership Distinction and support their development of integrative learning (e.g., developing presentations and ePortfolios reflecting within and beyond the classroom learning); (2) coordinate annual events in relation to GLD (Fall Showcase, cording ceremonies, Write Nite, etc); and (3) organize and lead GLD alumni initiatives through managing contact information, conducting surveys, and planning events. The CIEL Program Advisor and Event Coordinator will work under the supervision of the Associate Director and in collaboration with other CIEL staff and university partners.
Duty 1: Advises students concerning completion of Graduation with Leadership Distinction. Success criteria: Advises students concerning completion of Graduation with Leadership Distinction applications. Stays knowledgeable and current regarding GLD requirements and updates. Provides excellent customer service to students (e.g. thorough and positive advisement). Seeks out answers (from website, supervisor, etc.) when answer is unknown to student question. Maintains up to date and accurate EAB calendar with at least 20 hours for student advising. Prepares and facilitates workshops and tracks data accurately. Completes assigned verification tasks in a timely manner. Researches, develops, and shares new techniques and strategies for advising students regarding integration and reflection. Duty 2: Advises and mentors students in the development of ePortfolios for completing GLD . Success criteria: Advises and mentors students in the development of ePortfolios for completing Graduation with Leadership Distinction. Stays in contact with assigned students throughout the semester in which they are working on their ePortfolios and tracks data accurately. Maintains positivity and encouragement and utilizes a customized feedback approach with students as they complete the ePortfolio. Stays knowledgeable of GLD ePortfolio requirements and grading rubric. Assists students through meetings, email, phone or other method of communication regarding the development of the GLD ePortfolio. Assists in evaluating ePortfolios when necessary. Effectively supports students in successful completion of ePortfolio. Essential Function Yes Percentage of Time 25
Duty 3: Coordinate and lead annual CIEL events (Fall Showcase, cording ceremonies, Write Nite, etc). Collaborate with others and support university events in relation to CIEL . Success criteria: Oversees all logical aspects of coordinating events including delegating tasks, meeting with campus partners, making reservations, and coordinating communication between all parties involved. Efficiently works with others to ensure materials and personnel are prepared for events (Fall Showcase, cording ceremonies, write nite, etc). Participates in and leads portions of events as needed. Supports the work of campus partners by attending their events (e.g. Career Champions, Advising Conference, Study Abroad Conference, etc). Essential Function Yes Percentage of Time 25
Duty 4: Organize and lead GLD alumni engagement initiatives through collaboration with CIEL staff, maintaining accurate records, and implementing alumni awards. Success criteria: Collects information on current GLD alumni, contact information, etc. through alumni survey. Collaborates with Alumni and Development offices to maintain alumni contact database. Collaborates with relevant CIEL staff and administration to manage alumni awards nominations, scoring and selection, and communications. Plans and implements alumni programs and efforts to engage alumni and current students, including CIEL’s annual Give 4 Garnet campaign. Essential Function Yes Percentage of Time 25
