The Professional Staff Nurse is a Registered Nurse and a member of the care delivery team. They are responsible for setting standards for the quality of care, managing patient care activities, and collaborating with healthcare team members. The role encompasses leadership, partnership, and supervision, establishing and maintaining relationships with physicians, patients, and families to achieve optimal outcomes. The nurse demonstrates commitment to the community and the nursing profession.

Responsibilities:

• Develop and maintain productive relationships with colleagues and patients, demonstrating accountability, enthusiasm, and cultural sensitivity. Maintain work-life balance, model safe work hours, and communicate safety hazards.
• Apply adult learning principles to educate patients, families, students, and new staff, providing detailed guidance and supporting professional development through preceptorship and open dialogue.
• Use the nursing process within Relationship Based Care to create a healing environment, formulate daily goals, and develop holistic care plans involving patients as partners. Communicate effectively and document comprehensively to promote safety and quality, aligning with professional and organizational goals.
• Take accountability for professional growth, participate in shared governance and quality improvement initiatives, and support practice and care environment enhancements. Respond flexibly to change and collaborate actively with the care team.
