JOB DESCRIPTION

Underwriter - Financial Lines - Public Management Liability

Location - Alpharetta, GA

The Underwriter's primary responsibility is to underwrite individual risks of public companies to provide Director & Officers Liability, Employment Practices Liability, Fiduciary Liability, and other insurances. The individual will underwrite risks through a demonstration of the following skills and abilities:

• Fundamentals of coverage, terms, and conditions: Ability to offer coverage, terms, and conditions that generate a profit for the Company while meeting the customer's needs.

• Risk Assessment: Ability to conduct exploratory research into customers' operations and industries, identify risk exposures, special or common hazards, and appropriate controls, select risk based on exposure and risk analysis, analyze claims, and quantify losses.

• Financial proficiency: Understanding of financial statements and ratios used in risk analysis, insurance financial fundamentals, impact of underwriting decisions on company assets, and credit risk.

• Marketing and Communications: Ability to sell and negotiate for profitability, make articulate presentations, base communications on strategic thinking, and manage producer strategy.

• Systems and programs: Ability to use systems and software needed for daily business operations.

• Collaboration: Ability to connect and work effectively with co-workers both in the office and globally.

Major Duties & Responsibilities

• Solicit new and renewal submissions from brokers.
• Determine terms, conditions, and complex rating plans.
• Bind coverage.
• Document underwriting files.
• Handle complex files and portfolios within underwriting authority.
• Develop new relationships with local brokers.
• Travel to client meetings locally and domestically.
