Wilson Elser's New York office seeks a Professional Liability Associate Attorney to join a dynamic litigation team handling legal malpractice and related claims. You will work on complex matters from early assessment through resolution, with involvement in strategy, client communication, and trial readiness.

Ideal candidates hold a NY JD, are admitted in NY, have 2+ years civil litigation, and possess strong writing, research, and analytical skills.

Qualifications

• JD from an accredited law school.
• Admitted to practice in the State of New York.
• 2+ years of civil litigation experience.
• Experience with professional liability matters preferred.
• Strong legal writing, research, and analytical skills.
• Experience handling written discovery, depositions, and motion practice.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Independently manage or assist with a defense litigation caseload from inception through resolution, including dispositive motions, mediation, negotiated settlement, or trial.
• Draft pleadings, motions, and other legal documents and conduct in-depth legal research.
• Handle court appearances, depositions, and other key litigation activities.
• Conduct and manage written discovery, including drafting and responding to interrogatories, document requests, and subpoenas.
• Collaborate with partners and other attorneys on case strategy and complex legal issues.
• Communicate directly with clients and provide regular case status updates and strategic recommendations.
