Job summary

Wilson Elser’s New York office seeks a Professional Liability Associate Attorney to join a dynamic litigation team representing professionals in legal malpractice and other professional liability matters.

This role offers exposure to complex matters from early case assessment to resolution, including motions, mediation, and trial, with active involvement in case strategy, client communication, and litigation management alongside experienced partners.

Qualifications

• JD from an accredited law school.
• Admitted to practice in the State of New York.
• 2+ years of civil litigation experience.
• Experience with professional liability matters preferred.
• Strong legal writing, research, and analytical skills.
• Experience handling written discovery, depositions, and motion practice.

Responsibilities

• Independently manage or assist with a defense litigation caseload from inception through resolution, including dispositive motions, mediation, negotiated settlement, or trial.
• Draft pleadings, motions, and other legal documents and conduct in-depth legal research.
• Handle court appearances, depositions, and other key litigation activities.
• Conduct and manage written discovery, including drafting and responding to interrogatories, document requests, and subpoenas.
• Collaborate with partners and other attorneys on case strategy and complex legal issues.
• Communicate directly with clients and provide regular case status updates and strategic recommendations.
