Job summary

Wilson Elser, a national law firm with 1,400+ attorneys, is seeking an Associate with a minimum of 4 years of litigation experience to join a seasoned team handling general liability, insurance defense, and construction-related matters in New York.

The role involves court appearances, depositions, and close client engagement, with a flexible hybrid working arrangement and opportunities for professional growth within a nationally recognized firm.

Qualifications

• JD from an accredited law school.
• Admitted to practice in the State of New York.
• 4+ years of litigation experience with mediation or trial.
• Experience with insurance defense, premises liability, and general liability.
• Understanding of NY Construction Law (NYS Labor Law 200, 240, 241) is a plus.
• OSHA hearings experience is a plus; background with Corporation Counsel or DA's Office is a plus.
• Superior analytical abilities to breakdown complex legal issues.
• Excellence in written and verbal communication.
• Ability to independently manage caseloads with accountability and precision.

Responsibilities

• Independently manage cases in insurance defense, general liability, auto/transportation liability, and NYS Labor Law construction matters.
• Partner with attorneys, team members, and seasoned Partners on high-impact legal projects.
• Regularly handle court appearances and depositions.
• Engage closely with clients, delivering clear, timely updates and guidance.
