Job summary

Horrocks Engineers in Phoenix, AZ seeks a Professional Engineer for Roadway to lead the design of freeways, interstates, interchanges, urban and rural roadways, and shared-use trails from concept through completion.

This role requires a PE license, 5–10 years of roadway experience, and proven ability to lead multidisciplinary teams, coordinate with clients and stakeholders, and deliver projects on time and within budget. You will apply AASHTO criteria and utilize Bentley and Autodesk software.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering required.
• Professional Engineer license or ability to obtain within one year of hire.
• 5–10 years of roadway transportation engineering experience.
• Experience on multidisciplinary project teams.
• Solid background in AASHTO roadway geometric design criteria.
• Proficiency with Bentley and/or Autodesk civil design software.
• Knowledge of DOT standards and plan preparation procedures.
• Drainage or traffic engineering experience a plus.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Self-motivated with strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Proficiency with MS Office applications.
• Desire to grow personally and professionally with each project assignment.

Responsibilities

• Prepare studies, reports, plans, specs, and cost estimates for transportation projects.
• Lead roadway design discipline underP Project Manager and coordinate with other design disciplines.

• Interface with coworkers to achieve shared success.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and analysis of freeways, interstate highways, interchanges, urban and rural roadways, and shared-use trails
• Prepare studies, reports, memos, plans, specifications, and cost estimates for a wide variety of transportation projects
• Work under the direction of a Project Manager to lead the roadway design discipline and to coordinate and integrate the other associated design disciplines on projects
• Support project managers with client relations, stakeholder coordination, and sub consultant management
• Take ownership of projects from start to finish, with attention to quality, budget and schedule
• Interface with coworkers to achieve shared success

Skills, Knowledge And Expertise

• Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering
• Professional Engineering license in state of employment or ability to obtain within one year of hire
• 5-10 years of experience in roadway transportation engineering
• Experience working on multidisciplinary project teams
• Solid background in AASHTO roadway geometric design criteria
• Proficiency using Bentley and/or Autodesk civil design software
• Knowledge of DOT standards and plan preparation procedures
