Job summary

Horrocks is seeking a Professional Engineer for Roadway to lead design on freeway, interstate, and urban road projects. You will own projects from concept to completion, ensuring quality, budget, and schedule while coordinating with other disciplines.

Qualifications include a BS in Civil Engineering, PE license (or ability to obtain within one year), and 5–10 years of roadway experience. Proficiency with Bentley/Autodesk software and DOT standards is expected.

Qualifications

• Experience on multidisciplinary project teams; knowledge of AASHTO criteria.

Responsibilities

• Design and analyze freeways, highways, interchanges, and trails.
• Prepare studies, reports, plans, specs, and cost estimates.
• Lead roadway design discipline under a Project Manager and coordinate with other disciplines.
• Support client relations, stakeholder coordination, and subconsultant management.
• Take ownership of projects from start to finish with quality, budget and schedule.
• Interface with coworkers to achieve shared success.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and analysis of freeways, interstate highways, interchanges, urban and rural roadways, and shared-use trails
• Prepare studies, reports, memos, plans, specifications, and cost estimates for a wide variety of transportation projects
• Work under the direction of a Project Manager to lead the roadway design discipline and to coordinate and integrate the other associated design disciplines on projects
• Support project managers with client relations, stakeholder coordination, and sub consultant management
• Take ownership of projects from start to finish, with attention to quality, budget and schedule
• Interface with coworkers to achieve shared success

Skills, Knowledge And Expertise

• Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering
• Professional Engineering license in state of employment or ability to obtain within one year of hire
• 5-10 years of experience in roadway transportation engineering
• Experience working on multidisciplinary project teams
• Solid background in AASHTO roadway geometric design criteria
• Proficiency using Bentley and/or Autodesk civil design software
• Knowledge of DOT standards and plan preparation procedures
• Drainage design and/or traffic engineering experience is a plus
• Solid written and oral communication skills
• Self-motivated, with strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• Proficiency with MS Office applications
• A desire to grow personally and professionally with each project assignment
