Job summary

Horrocks is seeking a Professional Engineer for Roadway to lead design efforts on diverse transportation projects in Utah. You will own projects from concept through completion, coordinating multiple disciplines and interfacing with clients and stakeholders.

The role requires a PE license or eligibility within one year, 5–10 years in roadway engineering, and strong communication and organizational skills for team leadership and project delivery.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering required.
• PE license in state of employment or ability to obtain within one year.
• 5–10 years of roadway transportation engineering experience.
• Experience leading multidisciplinary project teams.
• Solid knowledge of AASHTO roadway geometric design criteria.
• Proficiency with MS Office applications.

Responsibilities

• Design and analysis of freeways, interstates, interchanges, urban and rural roadways, and shared-use trails.
• Prepare studies, reports, memos, plans, specifications, and cost estimates for transportation projects.
• Lead roadway design discipline under a Project Manager and coordinate other design disciplines.
• Support project managers with client relations, stakeholder coordination, and sub consultant management.
• Take ownership of projects from start to finish, ensuring quality, budget, and schedule.
• Interface with coworkers to achieve shared success.

What are the core responsibilities for the role?

Qualifications, Skills, And Competencies

• Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering
• Professional Engineering license in state of employment or ability to obtain within one year of hire
• 5-10 years of experience in roadway transportation engineering
• Experience working on multidisciplinary project teams
• Solid background in AASHTO roadway geometric design criteria
• Proficiency using Bentley and/or Autodesk civil design software
• Knowledge of DOT standards and plan preparation procedures
• Drainage design and/or traffic engineering experience is a plus
• Solid written and oral communication skills
• Self-motivated, with strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• Proficiency with MS Office applications
• A desire to grow personally and professionally with each project assignment
