Job summary

Community Residences in Newington, CT seeks a Trainer to develop and deliver staff training across departments. You will design monthly curricula and coordinate regulatory classes such as CPR, First Aid, PMT and OSHA to keep staff informed and engaged.

The role requires at least five years working with individuals with developmental disabilities, a Bachelor's degree (preferred fields), and active trainer certifications.

Qualifications

  • Must obtain trainer certification in PMT, OSHA, CPR, First Aid, and Harassment Prevention within 120 days of hire.
  • Must complete all requirements necessary to maintain certifications.
  • Must be able to work flexible hours including nights and weekends.
  • Must be willing to travel for scheduled trainings.
  • Minimum of five years of experience working with persons with developmental disabilities.
  • A degree in one of the following fields is preferred: special education, rehabilitative counseling or psychology.

Responsibilities

  • In collaboration with the Professional Development Coordinator.
  • Instruct the monthly three/five day veteran/new employee training course curriculum and ensure the material is presented in an educational, stimulating and motivating way.
  • Instruct management skills trainings as scheduled and update curriculum as needed.
  • Ensure adequate training supplies in stock at all times.
  • Schedule classes to meet regulatory needs (CPR, First Aid, PMT, OSHA).
  • Maintain calendar of all agency offered training classes.
  • Forward training paperwork to administrators and/or regulatory agency within 48 hours.
