Job Description

The Operations Support role is vital to the overall operations of the plant. You may be assigned work in various areas, including coating lines, slitting, shipping, receiving, paint vault, and packaging at our Portage, IN plant. This role offers opportunities for career advancement into more skilled positions such as Line Operator.

Responsibilities

1. Retrieve and transport bare coils, maintaining flow of metal to lines by safely operating cranes, forklifts, and upenders without damaging materials or equipment.
2. Trim, package, and band finished coils according to customer specifications using proper skids, bands, pads, and wrapping materials.
3. Inspect coils and report defects.
4. Read and interpret production schedules.
5. Identify proper skid and package specifications as per schedules.
6. Record coil weights, order numbers, etc., accurately.
7. Load or unload coils onto or off trucks.

Qualifications

• High school level reading and writing skills.
• Visual acuity to read labels, meters, gauges, documents, and instructions.
• Ability to read and understand schedules, SOPs, work rules, etc.
• Effective communication skills.
• Ability to safely operate small manual and electric hand tools.
• Availability to work up to 12 hours per day on rotating shifts, including weekends and holidays.
