Job summary

General Dynamics Ordnance and Tactical Systems in Arkansas is seeking a manufacturing operator to set up and operate automatic or semi-automatic machines in a continuous production environment. You will monitor meters, gauges, temperatures and pressures to ensure adherence to production specifications, perform minor adjustments, and report malfunctions with accuracy and urgency.

Qualifications

• Vocational/Technical Training Degree with 1-2 years' experience or equivalent.

Job Summary

Sets up and operates automatic or semi-automatic machines and related equipment in a continuous production/processing operation | Monitors meters, gauges, valves, flow ratios, temperatures, pressures, and related controls and guidelines to ensure adherence to production/process specifications | Reports any malfunctions or abnormalities and makes minor adjustments and repairs to equipment | Performs all work in accordance with established safety procedures

• Works within clearly defined standard operating procedures and/or scientific methods and adheres to quality guidelines
• Works with close supervision
• Performs manual tasks according to established procedures

Essential Functions

• Sets up and operates production equipment to manufacture, process, and assemble various commercial products and substances.
• Uses product specifications, blueprints, diagrams, and standard operating procedures (SOP) to produce products.
• Monitors output for quality and conformance to required metrics.
• Prepares and maintains required records of production activities and reports any inconsistencies or equipment issues.
• Follows established guidelines for safe material handling and protective gear.
• Studies and records time, motion, methods, and speed to improve efficiency.
• Establishes a standard production rate in performance of maintenance, production, clerical, and other worker operations.
• Troubleshoots issues related to manufacturing operations and industrial layout.

Required Qualifications

• Required education and experience: Vocational/Technical Training Degree and 1-2 years' experience OR Equivalent Combination of Relevant Education &/or Experience

Preferred Qualifications

• Preferred education and experience: Associate's Degree
• Discipline/Major: Technical training preferred
• Knowledge, skills & abilities: Technical expertise. Ability to identify and seek needed information. Research skills. Problem-solving skills. Machine Operation. Machine Programming, Manufacturing. Numerical Control. Precision Measurement. Quality Inspection. Reading Blueprints/Diagrams. Safety Policies and Procedures. Record Keeping. Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).

Physical Requirements

• Requires regular movement throughout GD-OTS facilities.
• Must be able to lift up to 45 pounds.
• May need to stand for long periods of time.Work may require employee to work inside and outside with exposure to changing climate and/or operate machinery.
• May be requested to work a different shift.
• Must be willing to work outside normal business hours as required.
• This position is Safety-Sensitive.
