Job Description
  1. Work on 1st or 2nd shift.
  2. Set up, adjust, and operate a variety of auxiliary binding machines, including those with several cutting heads, control surfaces, or attachments (e.g., inkjet and mailing devices, case making & decorating equipment, folders, cutters, collators, stitchers, drills, binding/gluing machines).
  3. Set up automatic bindery machines with multiple functions and stations (e.g., power paper cutters, collators, gatherers, folders, speed binders) to produce finished products like books, catalogs, manuals, directories, magazines.
  4. Inspect equipment regularly for safety issues.
  5. Operate automatic adhesive binders (perfect binders) that contain multiple process stations to produce finished printed materials.
  6. Adjust equipment to coordinate multiple work stations on a single machine.
  7. Supervise and direct the production crew.
  8. Monitor quality, output, and productivity levels.
Qualifications
  1. Knowledge of different paper weights, sizes, types, and colors to identify paper conditions and make necessary adjustments.
  2. Basic math skills (decimals, metric units) to understand dimensional requirements and perform adjustments.
  3. Proficiency with standard and specialized tools for machine maintenance and adjustments.
  4. Skill in using hand tools (wrenches, screwdrivers, punches, knives) and specialized tools provided by machine manufacturers.
  5. Ability to read and interpret work instructions and machine operation sequences.
  6. Knowledge of operating procedures for bindery equipment such as folders, cutters, collators, stitchers, drills, and binding/gluing machines.
  7. Understanding of setup, adjustment, and operation of equipment for folding, collating, and cutting printed materials.

The pay range for this role is $16.16 - $22.66/hour. Actual pay may vary based on education, skills, experience, proficiency, performance, shift, and location.
