Job summary

Ohiocraftbeer is seeking a brewery packaging technician to join the production team. You will focus on safe cellaring and packaging operations, reporting to the Lead Brewer and Brewing Operations Manager.

Responsibilities include carbonating, kegging, canning, CIP, sanitizing, fermentation monitoring, and logging notes from brew day through packaging. The role requires flexibility for later shifts and overtime, plus a passion for craft beer.

Qualifications

  • 1+ year of experience operating canning equipment (Wild Goose or equivalent)
  • Passion for craft beer and desire to grow in brewing
  • Strong organizational habits and self-motivation with good problem-solving skills
  • Understanding of brewing phases including cellaring, yeast handling, CIP, and sanitization
  • Flexible hours with occasional later shifts and overtime
  • Prior packaging, canning/bottling, and kegging experience
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Ability to work as part of a team

  • Following SOPs during brewing, fermentation, transferring and packaging
  • Maintaining a clean and organized cellar and cold storage
  • Cleaning and maintenance of cellar, packaging, and draft beer dispensing equipment
  • Careful execution of treatments for specialty beers (dry hopping & fruit additions)
  • Assistance with yeast handling and management
  • Duties at the discretion of the Lead Brewer and Brewing Operations Manager

Job Summary :

Works with the brewery production team to safely execute cellaring, and packaging operations with focused attention to detail and quality. Reports to Lead Brewer and Brewing Operations manager.

General Job Duties :
  • Packaging duties including carbonating, kegging, and canning operations
  • CIP (clean-in-place) and sanitizing of fermentation tanks, kegs, and packaging equipment
  • Cellaring duties including fermentation monitoring (checking gravities and pH) Logging of all brewing related notes from brew day through fermentation, finishing, and packaging (Kegs & cans)
  • Following SOPs (standard operating procedures) in each phase of brewing, fermentation, transferring and packaging
  • Maintaining a clean and organized cellar and cold storage
  • Cleaning and maintenance of cellar, packaging, and draft beer dispensing equipmentCareful execution of treatments for specialty beers (dry hopping & fruit additions)
  • Assistance with yeast handling and management
  • Assistance with Quality Assurance activities
  • Duties at the discretion of the Lead Brewer and Brewing Operations Manager
Job Qualifications and Skills :
  • 1+ year(s) experience operating canning equipment (Wild Goose or other)
  • A strong passion for craft beer and a desire to advance personal growth in the brewing industry
  • Strong organizational habits, a self-motivated work ethic, and good critical thinking/problem solving skills
  • Some understanding of all aspects of brewing including cellaring, yeast handling, CIP, and sanitization
  • Flexibility in terms of hours and a willingness to work some later shifts and overtime when needed
  • Prior packaging, canning / bottling, and kegging experience
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Ability to work as part of a team

  • Ability to frequently stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl
  • Heavy physical work including climbing stairs, lifting kegs, pulling hoses, etc.
  • Willing to work in wet, hot and cold conditions
  • Willing to work in consistently loud environments
  • Ability to work safely with potentially hazardous chemicals
  • Ability to frequently lift and/or move objects up to 55 pounds and occasionally move and/or maneuver up to 165 pounds safely
