Job summary

Big Country is seeking a Brewery Operator to join the Operations Team. The role involves wort production, cellar and packaging tasks, reporting to the Head Brewer across brewing, cellaring, and packaging areas.

You will manage daily operations, transfers, CIP/SIP, dry hopping, and general facility upkeep. The ideal candidate has hands-on brewing experience, familiarity with canning and filtration, strong safety and communication skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced production

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2 years production brewing experience and formal brewing education.
  • Familiarity with rotary can filler and filtration operations is a plus.
  • Strong work ethic and drive towards proficiency in all areas of production operations.
  • Excellent time management and multi-tasking skills.
  • Dedication to professional safety and quality procedures.
  • Outstanding communication skills and detail-oriented nature.
  • Computer skills and modern technology skills (smart devices, apps, cloud, etc.).
  • Able to operate a forklift and pallet jack.

Responsibilities

  • Safe handling of chemicals, gasses, pressurized vessels, hot water and safe work practices in the brewery.
  • Use and knowledge of standard brewery and quality equipment.
  • Understand quality related metrics and production scheduling.
  • Cellar tasks including tank CIP/SIP, beer transfers, filtration, yeast harvests, dry hopping, carbonation.
  • Canning operations including filler, CIP, packaging, cartoning.
  • Kegging and cold room storage management.
  • Inventory communication to Head Brewer and assisting fellow Brewers on duty.
  • General cleaning and upkeep to keep the facility clean and organized.

Job description

Job Overview

This position will be involved in all facets of Brewing. Primary day-to-day duties will vary and include wort production, cellar, filtration and packaging tasks. As a member of the Brewing Operations Team at Big Country, you will report to the Head Brewer in all areas of Brewing, Cellaring, and Packaging. You will be responsible for tasks related to the day-to-day operations within the brewery including general operations within the cellar, tank transfers, filtration, tank CIP’s, dry hopping procedures as well as wort production, packaging operations and general upkeep & cleaning within the facility.

Responsibilities and Duties include (but are not limited to)
  • Safe handling of chemicals, gasses, pressurized vessels, hot water as well as the general promotion of safe work practices and procedures within the brewery.
  • Proper use and knowledge of standard brewery and quality equipment.
  • Understanding of quality related metrics.
  • Ability to understand and follow a prioritized production schedule.
  • Execute cellar tasks including, but not limited to tank CIP and SIP, beer transfers and/or filtering, yeast harvests, dry Hopping, carbonation, dissolved oxygen measurement.
  • Canning (filler operation, CIP, packaging, cartoning)
  • Cold room storage management.
  • Kegging (keg cleaning and filling)
  • General parts and equipment upkeep & maintenance.
  • Receiving shipments and communicating inventory to Head Brewer.
  • Assisting fellow Brewers on duty with various tasks on an as needed basis.
  • General cleaning and inventory duties aimed at keeping the facility clean and organized.
Qualifications:

Physical Requirements:
  • Lift 55lbs and move 160lb+ heavy objects
  • Stand and move 8+ hours/day
  • Ability to handle and work safely with hazardous materials and pressurized vessels
  • Work in hot or cold environments for extended periods
