Job summary

nVent is seeking a Production Lead in Solon, IA to ensure uninterrupted production flow and to mentor team members. You will support interviewing, onboarding, training, and help drive lean improvements while coordinating with support resources to resolve issues on the factory floor.

This role requires strong organizational and communication skills, the ability to train others, manage attendance, and adapt to changing production needs while upholding safety and quality standards.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• 3–5 years of production and/or warehouse experience.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office and ERP systems.
• Knowledge of production/warehouse operations.
• Strong safety policy knowledge and compliance.
• Analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.
• Effective written and verbal communication.
• Ability to train and mentor staff.
• Ability to manage attendance and staffing changes.
• Experience with operator training on standard work.
• Ability to support continuous improvement initiatives.
• Adaptability to fast-changing business conditions.

Responsibilities

• Provide backup to the Supervisor for all assigned areas.
• Identify and elevate any concerns or conflicts within the department to the Supervisor.
• Attend developmental and/or skills training as assigned.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned area team members.
• Assist in interviewing candidates for assigned areas and help onboard new associates to the department and plant.
• Guide, develop, and train employees to meet production goals and enhance skill sets.
• Assist with monitoring attendance, including shift start-up, shift hand-off, and/or break times.
• Conduct first piece inspections and ensure proper paperwork is filled out (productivity reports, department metrics).
• Communicate with resources to resolve problems, coordinate movement of material and information, ensure uninterrupted production flow.
• Support the production process by running and/or setting up equipment when necessary.
• Assist in staffing adjustments as necessary in response to material, machine, or labor changes.
• Lead lean activities (MDI, 5S, Kaizen) and promote safety and efficiency.
• Operate equipment such as CRTs, forklifts, etc.
• Ensure employees perform duties safely and that medical processes are followed in case of injury.
• Report safety hazards/incidents per policy and participate in safety inspections.
• Serve on the Safety Committee.
• Maintain First Aid/CPR/AED certifications.
• Uphold nVent policies, standards, and values.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
