Job summary

Somafina in Layton, UT is seeking a Production Supervisor to oversee daily operations of the production department, directing department supervisors and ensuring production goals are met with high quality and GMP compliance. The role requires a high school diploma (associate's or bachelor's preferred) and is full-time on-site; salary ranges $24.00-$30.00 per hour.

Responsibilities include setting targets, equipment recommendations, hiring/training, cost/capacity modeling, and maintaining SOPs.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of a variety of computer software applications.
• Ability to perform basic mathematical operations and calculate percentages/yield.
• Ability to respond to inquiries from customers/regulators and present information to management.
• Ability to define problems, collect data, and draw valid conclusions; interpret technical instructions.
• Must obtain and maintain a current food handler's permit.

Responsibilities

• Sets daily, weekly, and monthly production goals; measures progress and reviews results with management regularly.
• Recommends equipment purchases to improve operations — for example, reducing costs, improving quality, and reducing lead times.
• Collaborates on the hiring, training, and termination of employees.
• Develops and maintains cost and capacity models.
• Oversees the production scheduling process.
• Assesses the effectiveness of the group's information and planning systems, as well as the quality assurance systems.
• Ensures that operations remain compliant with SOPs and current Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).

Education Requirements

• High school diploma required. Associate's or bachelor's degree is a plus. Minimum of 3 years of experience in industry-related manufacturing activities.

Competencies / Skill Qualifications

• Knowledge of a variety of computer software applications, including word processing, spreadsheets, and database software.
• Ability to apply mathematical operations such as adding, subtracting, dividing, and multiplying, and to calculate percentages and yield.
• Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community; ability to effectively present information to top management and/or boards of directors.
• Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions; ability to interpret technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and manage several abstract and concrete variables.
• Must obtain and maintain a current food handler's permit.

Physical Requirements
