GENERAL ACCOUNTABILITY:

This position will lead the assembly operation. Responsibility will include directing the team to drive improvement in Safety, Quality, Productivity, and budget compliance as well as employee development. The successful candidate will have a proven track record in leading a multi-shift team(s) with the above listed goals. This position will report to the Section Leader. This role is a 1st shift position.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead and develop scheduling systems for department operations.
  • Develop staff and standardize training requirements for the efficient operation of the department.
  • Responsible for the safe operation of the department.
  • Responsible for the delivery of components meeting the customers needs in delivery schedule, quantity, and quality.
  • Assist team leads and employees with troubleshooting.
  • Train and evaluate employees along with motivating and coaching.
  • Assist in developing and implementing department budgets.
  • Oversee and organize the workload of the department.
  • Supervisor of the department on all aspects of the operation.
  • Complete all required documentation within established guidelines and appropriate timeframes.
  • Collaborate with other departments.
  • Ability to prioritize workload as new work comes into the department.
  • Maintain compliance with OSHA safety rules and regulations.
  • Work independently and with management to create/implement processes and procedures.
  • Establish and maintain a positive working relationship with team leads.
  • Lead and participate in cross-functional teams and department meetings.
  • Interview and hire all new employees for department staffing requirements.
  • Strong customer-first attitude with the ability to retain employees.
  • Delegate projects as needed.
  • Other related duties as assigned.

EXPERIENCE:

  • 1-2 years in a leadership position and/or previous management experience.
  • Experience in the principles of lean manufacturing (preferred).

EXPERTISE:

  • Excellent communication skills - written, listening and verbal.
  • Ability to work well with other departments to accomplish necessary goals within the company.
  • Team building knowledge.
  • Advanced understanding of specific department operations.
  • Able to use tools and equipment in a safe and responsible manner.
  • Strong coaching and mentoring skills.
  • Handle change well, and are able to implement new processes/procedures to the next level.
  • High attention to detail.
  • Ability to remain calm in high-pressure situations.
  • Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Understand and support company policies and procedures.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented with good problem-solving skills.

EDUCATION:

  • High School Diploma required; Bachelor’s Degree preferred.

INTERNAL & EXTERNAL CONNECTIONS:

  • Interact with multiple departments in the facility regarding production (Quality, Manufacturing Engineering, Safety, Purchasing, Human Resources, etc.).
  • Minimal external connections required and will be assigned as needed.

SALARY RANGE:

  • Base Salary Range between $68,000 - $90,000 per year, plus a potential annual bonus based on performance metrics.

*Actual pay determined by experience level, skills, qualifications & work location.

LOCALIZATION AND TRAVEL EXPECTED:

  • This position is located in Madison, SD.
  • Travel up to 5%.
