Job description

A Snapshot of Your Day

As Production Supervisor on the 3rd shift within the CoC Exciter manufacturing unit, you will maintain operational continuity and leadership during night‑time production of large generator components. To ensure consistent output and team performance, the role is structured around three core areas: direct team leadership and supervision, management of production operations and execution, and oversight of safety, quality, and continuous improvement initiatives.

These focus areas collectively ensure that the 3rd shift meets its production, safety, and quality objectives. Given the emphasis on independent shift management and process oversight, this role requires significant experience in a manufacturing environment, demonstrated leadership capabilities, and a strong background in production planning and Lean manufacturing principles. A proven record of upholding safety and quality standards is essential for success in this role.

How You’ll Make An Impact
  • Provide direct leadership and supervision to the 3rd shift production team, coaching performance, addressing issues, and fostering a culture of accountability and engagement.
  • Plan and manage employee schedules, allocate labor resources effectively, and ensure smooth shift handovers to support uninterrupted operations.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for all operational and personnel matters during the 3rd shift, making timely and informed decisions with a high degree of independence.
  • Direct and monitor overnight production activities to meet established safety, quality, delivery, and cost objectives.
  • Independently troubleshoot and resolve complex production, process, and equipment issues to minimize downtime and maintain workflow.
  • Ensure strict compliance with Environment, Health & Safety (EHS) requirements, Good Manufacturing Practices, and internal quality standards.
  • Coordinate with maintenance and support teams to resolve issues efficiently and reduce disruption to production.
  • Drive continuous improvement through Lean manufacturing principles, root cause analysis, and the effective use of performance metrics and shift reporting.
What You Bring
  • Associates degree or higher is preferred but not required. Equivalent professional experience is acceptable.
  • 5 or more years of experience in a manufacturing or production environment.
  • Proven direct supervisory experience in a manufacturing or production environment.
  • Experience in Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and/or 5S is preferred.
  • Demonstrated leadership and management skills, including accountability, influencing skills, workflow management, and effective troubleshooting in a production environment.
  • Strong manufacturing and operations knowledge, including production planning, Lean manufacturing principles, Good Manufacturing Practices, SAP applications, and mechanical aptitude.
  • Proven commitment to quality and safety, with experience in quality control, root cause analysis, Environment, Health & Safety requirements, and adherence to established safety standards.
  • Candidates with more experience can be considered for a higher level or vice versa.
  • Applicants must be legally authorized for employment in the United States without need for current or future employer-sponsored work authorization. Siemens Energy employees with current visa sponsorship may be eligible for internal transfers.
