Job summary

Sub-Zero Group, Inc. in the Madison area is seeking a supervisor for fabrication operations on the 2nd shift (M-F, 2:00pm–10:00pm). The role leads about 25-30 fabrication staff and collaborates with engineers and other supervisors to meet safety, quality and production targets.

You will organize work, train cross-functional staff, enforce PPE and housekeeping, drive safety and continuous improvement, support cost reduction and scheduling, and foster clear employee communications.

Responsibilities

• Leads and supervises people and fabrication activities to achieve established production goals consistent with standards of quality, safety, cost and housekeeping.
• Plans operations, utilization of skills and man-hours, material and work flow to assure timely production and quality standards of assigned products.
• Organizes and assigns work and instructs cross-trains and otherwise assists employees in the performance of their work.
• Ensures the consistent use of safety devices and PPE; supervises housekeeping and maintains alert for hazardous conditions; drives safety improvements.
• Monitors and drives quality measures and implements continuous improvement efforts.
• Collaborates with internal groups to drive cost reduction, work simplification, scheduling and manpower planning.
• Coordinates programs on employee communications, placement, training and development.
• Promotes positive employee relations through daily, open and direct communications.
• Ensures conformance with company policies and attendance/performance rules.
• Other duties as assigned.

This position will supervise approximately 25-30 fabrication staff at a given time. In addition to supervising direct reports, this position will also work collaboratively with other supervisors, engineers, and other business functions to ensure safety, quality, and production needs are being met.

Core hours for 2nd shift are M-F, 2:00pm - 10:00pm.

Primary Responsibilities

• Monitors and drives quality measures and implements continuous improvement efforts.
• Provides information and collaborates with other internal groups to effect cost reduction, work simplification, production scheduling and manpower planning.
• Participates in and coordinates programs related to employee communications, placement, training and development, orientation, quality, etc.
• Promotes positive employee relations through daily, open and direct communications.
• Ensures conformance with Company policies, practices and work rules related to attendance, performance, etc.
• Other duties as assigned.
