This role supervises employees to consistently produce quality meat products in a sanitary condition, adhering to company policies and government regulations.
Job Responsibilities
- Supervise a team, with authority to hire and manage performance.
- Lead and manage 21-25 employees.
- Plan daily resource allocation (equipment, personnel, materials) to meet performance targets safely and efficiently.
- Document and review daily production activities, reporting variances.
- Review maintenance effectiveness and coordinate with staff to maximize equipment uptime.
- Handle supervisory duties including scheduling, performance management, hiring, discipline, coaching, training, and terminations.
- Utilize continuous improvement tools to address root causes of failures and support ongoing improvements.
- Facilitate shift transitions and communicate key information effectively.
- Apply corrective actions as needed.
- Ensure compliance with quality and food safety standards, including GMPs, sanitation, HACCP, and quality checks.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives.
- Follow and promote safety procedures through education, training, and use of protective equipment.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Experience & Skills
- 3-5 years of relevant experience preferred.
- Experience in food manufacturing preferred.
- Knowledge of GMPs, HACCP, lean manufacturing, and food safety principles.
- Effective communication skills in writing and verbally.
- Ability to motivate and coach employees at all levels.
- Strong organizational skills to manage multiple priorities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
Education
- BA/BS or equivalent preferred, in Business Management, Production Operations, Agricultural Science, Food Science, or related experience.
Work Environment
- Work may be in a manufacturing environment with noise, temperature extremes, and movement of equipment and personnel.
- Typical office and plant conditions.
- No domestic travel required.
- Physical requirements include lifting up to 50 pounds and standing/walking for over 4 hours.
