Job Description
The Production Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the production floor. This role ensures that manufacturing processes run smoothly, efficiently, and within set quality standards. The Production Supervisor will manage a team of production workers, ensure adherence to safety regulations, and work towards continuous improvement in the production process.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Plans production activities and ensures effective supervision of production lines.
- Provides immediate supervision to a group of employees, assigns tasks, checks work at frequent intervals, and maintains schedules.
- Responsible for the daily production team's output.
- Ensures product quality, on-time shipping, and safety.
- Works closely with plant managers and manufacturing engineers to improve production output.
- Participates in all continuous improvement activities through lean manufacturing, product quality, plant throughput, and delivery performance.
- Responsible for meeting performance targets for production, delivery, costs, quality, and safety.
- Resolves personnel problems by analyzing data; investigating issues, identifying solutions, and recommending actions.
- Identifies and implements product improvement and efficiency initiatives to achieve cost savings targets.
- Communicates with the procurement department to ensure timely supply of materials.
- Onboards, trains, and retains qualified staff by providing supervision and tracking employee performance.
- Participates in safety investigations after accidents and provides recommendations.
- Audits SOPs.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Ability to follow directions and work well in a team.
- Ability to apply fractions, addition, subtraction, division, decimals, and common fractions in all units of measure.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret safety procedures and shipping/receiving processes.
- Strong conceptual thinking abilities for problem definition and troubleshooting.
- Ability to use precision measuring and mechanical equipment and tools.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Attention to detail.
- Efficient time management skills.
Education and Experience:
- Associate's degree in business administration or related field.
- Three years of production experience.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
- Minimum of two years of supervisory experience in manufacturing.
- Experience leading continuous improvement initiatives.
- Experience in the plastic and assembly industry is preferred.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office Systems.
- Working knowledge of MRP or similar software programs.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Regularly required to bend, reach, stoop, stand, and walk for extended periods.
- Climb ladders.
- Lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
- Close, peripheral, and depth vision abilities required.
Work Environment:
- Work near moving, vibrating, mechanical equipment; occasional exposure to fumes or airborne particles.
- Minimal risk of electrical shock.
- Moderate noise level.
- Safety shoes/boots required.
