Job summary

Magna International seeks a supervisor for the Stamping/Hot Stamping area to supervise JIT manufacturing, ensure quality, and promote a collaborative team environment. You will manage schedules, support safety programs, and drive continuous improvement in an automotive setting.

Ideal candidates have 2–4 years automotive press shop experience, plus a track record of supervising teams and maintaining high safety and quality standards. Company benefits and growth opportunities are provided.

Qualifications

• Must have 2–4 years experience in an automotive press/shop environment.
• Experience leading or supervising a team is preferred.
• Manufacturing background with focus on continuous improvement.
• Maintenance experience is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Supervise stamping/ hot stamping area to meet customer expectations.
• Maintain work areas to exceed requirements and ensure safety.
• Enforce TS16949 and ISO14001 work instructions.
• Lead problem-solving to identify root causes and prevent recurrence.
• Train and coach team members; manage time and attendance.
• Monitor quality, scrap, and waste, and drive efficiency improvements.
• Perform safety briefings and weekly meetings per program.

Job Responsibilities:

JOB PROFILE

To supervise the Just-In-Time (JIT) manufacturing activities of the Stamping or Hot Stamping area in order to meet or exceed customer expectations by producing quality products in a timely manner and working together to promote a team-oriented atmosphere

RESPONSIBILITIES

Supports Magna Operational Principles and Employee Charter criteria within context and position's scope of work supports EBM's ISO 45001 Occupational Health and Safety Management System, ISO 14001 Environmental Management System, IATF System, as well as Magna Safety and Magna Environmental Program requirements

• Maintain work areas to meet and exceed customer requirements
• Ensure TS16949 and ISO14001 Work Instructions are followed by team members
• Have a basic working knowledge of Beckhoff, Twin CAT and Wintress Press Controls
• Visually monitor housekeeping and plant organization (5S)
• Monitor and address safety, environmental, and ergonomic concerns on the shop floor
• Monitor quality issues toward our goal of zero defects
• Control overtime; manage work schedules and approve employee time & attendance
• Improve efficiency by reducing set-up times
• Reduce scrap and work to eliminate waste in the manufacturing process
• Lead problem-solving efforts to determine root-cause and prevent failure recurrence
• Train new employees and coach team to achieve overall business objectives
• Perform Forklift Operator training and testing with support from Safety Manager
• Create and implement Continuous Improvement suggestions
• Monitor employee performance; complete evaluations on-time; issue Corrective Action Requests as required to improve employee performance
• Enforce company policies as outlined in the Employee Handbook
• Perform Weekly Safety Meetings as defined by the Weekly Safety Topics Program
• Help manage Performance Measurables such as Incident Rate, Weekly Inspection Results, Safety, Environmental & Ergonomic Audits, and Employee Opinion Survey scores
• Perform Incident Investigations timely to determine root-cause and prevent recurrence
• Manage fairly according to the Magna Employee Charter and Operational Principles
• Housekeeping and other activities as assigned

EDUCATION

• High School diploma
• Some technical training preferred or college degree

TECHNICAL EDUCATION

• Punch press operation
• Forklift Operator license helpful; overhead crane experience
• Metal fabrication
• Computer applications
• SPC (Statistical Process Control)
• Tooling or Maintenance Background helpful
• Welding/assembly experience

QUALIFICATIONS

• 2 - 4 years experience
• Automotive Press Shop experience
• Manufacturing, preferably in an automotive environment
• Prior team leader or supervisory experience helpful
• Maintenance experience

SKILLS

• Ability to supervise general manufacturing processes and team members
• Ability to plan and delegate assignments
• Must be able to speak, read, and write English
• Individual must be a good communicator and a good listener
• Must have good understanding of manufacturing operations, machine set-up and changeovers, safety, and quality issues
• Must possess good interpersonal skills and present a positive attitude
• Ability to motivate team members and set a good example
• Ability to evaluate performance and address discipline issues
• Ability to work overtime hours including weekends required
• Good problem-solving abilities and teamwork skills
• Ability to visually monitor production processes and product quality as well as safety
• Ability to inspect products using fixtures and precise measuring equipment

• Stamping Presses; Hot Stamping Presses; robotic material-handling equipment

• Common office equipment (i.e. Personal Computers, Microsoft programs, telephone, facsimile, copier, etc.)
• Verniers, calipers, micrometers, hand tools, check fixtures

WORKING CONDITIONS:

• Ability to move throughout the plant
• Extended sitting and standing; reaching and bending
• Occasional lifting of up to 50 lbs. may be required
• Loud work environment; compliance with personal protective equipment as required
