Job summary

The Judge Group is seeking a Production Supervisor for a food manufacturing operation in Cincinnati, OH. This role oversees daily high-volume production lines and directs shift personnel to maintain continuous schedules while enforcing food safety standards (SQF/BRC) and OSHA safety requirements.

Ideal candidates bring 3+ years of supervisory experience in food/beverage manufacturing, with hands-on knowledge of mixing, proofing, baking, and packaging workflows.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; associate/bachelor’s in related field preferred.
• 3+ years of supervisory or team lead experience in food/beverage manufacturing.
• HACCP certification and PCQI strongly preferred; SQF or BRC audit experience is a plus.
• Familiarity with ERP systems (SAP, NetSuite) and digital batch recording tools.

Responsibilities

• Direct and coordinate daily activities across high-volume production lines (mixing, makeup, proofing, baking, packaging).
• Meet daily production schedules, output targets, and OEE metrics while maintaining quality and food safety standards.
• Monitor critical control parameters and enforce GMPs, SOPs, SSOPs, and HACCP protocols.
• Lead shift huddles, assign roles, and manage line balancing to minimize downtime.

Position Type: Full-Time | Direct Hire *Must be US citizen or Green Card Holder*

Shift: 2nd, 2pm-10pm M-F OR 3rd, 10pm - 6am M-F

Salary: $80,000 - $95,000 + Great Benefits package

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Production Supervisor to oversee daily high-volume food manufacturing operations. This role is responsible for directing shift personnel, maintaining continuous production schedules, and ensuring strict adherence to product consistency, food safety standards (SQF/BRC), and OSHA safety regulations. The ideal candidate brings strong leadership experience in automated or commercial food processing, with direct experience in mixing, proofing, and packaging workflows.

Key ResponsibilitiesShift Leadership & Operations

• Direct and coordinate daily activities across high-volume production lines, including ingredient mixing, makeup, proofing, baking, cooling, and packaging.

• Ensure daily production schedules, output targets, and Yield/Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) metrics are met without sacrificing product quality.

• Monitor critical control parameters throughout the production process.

• Lead daily shift huddles, assign work roles, and manage line balancing to minimize downtime and eliminate bottlenecks.

Food Safety, Quality Assurance & Compliance

• Enforce Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures (SSOPs).

• Monitor and verify Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) logs, allergen control protocols, and quality checks.

• Partner with Quality Assurance (QA) to audit incoming raw materials, in-process goods, and finished products for specification compliance.

• Lead immediate root-cause investigations and corrective action plans for any quality deviations or non-conformance incidents.

Team Management & Development

• Supervise, train, and mentor line leads, machine operators, mixers, and packaging technicians.

• Conduct performance evaluations, track shift attendance, and manage employee relations in alignment with company policies.

• Promote a continuous improvement mindset, cross-training staff to increase operational flexibility across production lines.

Safety, Sanitation & Maintenance

• Enforce all workplace safety rules (OSHA), personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements, and lock-out/tag-out (LOTO) procedures.

• Work alongside Maintenance Technicians to coordinate preventive maintenance schedules and troubleshoot mechanical or electrical equipment failures.

• Partner with Sanitation teams to ensure timely line clearance, deep cleaning, and readiness for audit standards.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Education: High School Diploma or GED required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Operations Management, or related field preferred.

• Experience: 3+ years of supervisory or team lead experience in food or beverage manufacturing.

• Certifications: HACCP certification and PCQI (Preventive Controls Qualified Individual) strong preferred. SQF or BRC audit experience is a plus.

• Technical Skills:

  • Familiarity with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, NetSuite) and digital batch recording tools.

• Key Competencies: Strong problem-solving skills, ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, clear verbal and written communication skills, and conflict resolution expertise.

• Physical Demands: Ability to stand and walk for extended periods (8-12 hours), lift up to 50 lbs, and work in environments with variable temperatures (heat from ovens, ambient flour/dust environments).
