Job summary

Surge Staffing is seeking a skilled Production Supervisor for our Rockwall, TX manufacturing site. You will lead daily operations, drive safety and quality, monitor KPIs, and manage staffing to meet production goals.

You will implement Lean initiatives, coach operators and team leads, handle scheduling, and ensure adherence to standardized work. The role emphasizes hands-on leadership and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

  • 2–3 years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing, production, or industrial environment.
  • Minimum 2+ years of hands-on production experience (plastics or similar industry preferred).
  • Strong knowledge of Lean manufacturing principles (5S, TPM, Kaizen, etc.).
  • Proven ability to lead teams and drive performance improvements.
  • Experience with production KPIs and reporting.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and production systems.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure production metrics align with customer expectations (quality, cost, delivery, people).
  • Establish and monitor KPIs such as PPM, productivity (PPH), efficiency (OEE/TRS), absenteeism, and safety incidents.
  • Manage staffing levels and resources to meet production demands.
  • Monitor shift performance and report results daily.
  • Respond to production issues with immediate containment and corrective actions.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives using Lean methodologies (5S, TPM, SMED, Kaizen, problem-solving groups).
  • Drive implementation of improvement ideas and track results.
  • Conduct audits to ensure adherence to standardized work processes.
  • Maintain and update daily KPI tracking systems.
  • Maintain a strong presence on the production floor and provide hands-on leadership.
  • Plan daily and weekly workforce scheduling and manage timekeeping.
  • Coach and develop team members, including team leads and operators.
  • Support hiring, onboarding, and training of new employees.
  • Build and execute training plans to improve team capability and flexibility.
  • Enforce company policies, safety standards, and workplace discipline.
  • Recognize and support employee performance and development.
  • Ensure clear and consistent communication across all levels of the team.
  • Promote and enforce a strong safety culture.
  • Stop production when safety risks are identified.
  • Lead safety initiatives and support continuous improvement in workplace conditions.
  • Ensure compliance with all HSE policies, procedures, and regulations.
  • Partner with leadership and cross-functional teams to improve operations.
  • Participate in daily production meetings and report key updates.
  • Ensure smooth shift transitions and communication between teams.
  • Support cost reduction and operational efficiency initiatives.
  • Share best practices and continuous improvement ideas.
  • Perform other duties as assigned
