Responsibilities
  • Supervises the production process in accordance with policies and procedures.
  • Responsible for the effective use of materials and equipment.
  • Continually improves quality, reduces cycle time and costs.
  • Supervises and mentors production staff, providing direct technical support and leadership.
  • Oversees and/or conducts training of new or existing employees.
  • Develops and recommends improvements of facilities, equipment, or procedures to improve safety, quality, and efficiency.
  • Reinforces a safe culture that promotes an injury‑free workplace and assures a safe working environment in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Effectively communicates with management keeping them informed of developments as they occur.
  • Monitors the usage of utilities to ensure efficiency of operations.
  • Responsible for performance management of all assigned employees, including performance reviews, goal‑setting, production goals, career development, succession planning and disciplinary action.
  • Supervises technical staff on a day‑to‑day basis, implementing policies and procedures, evaluating and training staff.
  • Responsible for “on call, first call” status at all times unless arrangements are made otherwise.
  • Prepares, reviews, approves and distributes instructions for the production of intermediates or APIs according to written procedures.
  • Reviews all production batches and ensures these are completed and signed.
  • Ensures all production deviations are reported and evaluated, and that critical deviations are investigated, with conclusions recorded.
  • Ensures that production facilities are clean and when appropriate disinfected.
  • Responsible for following food safety regulations and company policies to ensure the integrity of food‑grade production processes.
Qualifications
  • Legal authorization to work in the US on a full‑time basis.
  • Experience in the operation of an ethanol plant is desirable.
  • Experience in working in an FDA regulated environment or food environment is desirable.
  • High level of interpersonal skills to work effectively with others and motivate employees.
  • Ability to work in a cooperative, team‑based workplace.
  • Ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 60 lbs., work at elevated heights and in confined spaces.
  • Ability to read, write, and understand English.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license.
