Saint-Gobain is seeking a Production Superintendent at its Silver Grove gypsum wallboard plant to lead daily operations, drive safety and quality, and develop a high-performing team. You will oversee scheduling, maintenance, and performance reporting while ensuring adherence to environmental standards.
The role requires 3–5 years of supervisory experience in continuous-operation environments, a BA/BS in a related field, and strong communication.
Shift: 11:00 PM/12:00 AM — 7:00/8:00 AM
Schedule may be Sunday–Thursday or Monday–Friday, depending on business needs.
This position is primarily responsible for managing the day-to-day operations and production of gypsum wallboard in accordance with the Silver Grove plant’s policies and objectives. This position is responsible for setting a high standard for safety, quality, housekeeping, productivity, and performance for all wallboard plant associates. The Production Superintendent is also responsible for empowering associates to make sound and timely decisions and resolve problems during operations.
Key Responsibilities
Continuously focus on safety, quality, people, and production at one of the world’s largest gypsum plants
Lead, recruit, and develop a competent labor force, providing clear directions and expectations
Communicate objectives and priorities with Supervisors; ensure coaching, development, and performance conversations are conducted effectively
Communicate effectively with Supervisors to ensure clear and precise directions on plant goals, plans, and future expectations for department growth
Provide recommendations to streamline processes and improve process capability
Analyze procedures to identify and eliminate redundancies and provide feedback for process improvements
Assure systems are in place to maintain all equipment to meet benchmark targets and environmental standards
Identify and schedule preventive maintenance by production personnel
Manage production schedule for Compound Production and ensure accurate and timely production entry in SAP
Maintain plant-specific efficiency tracking and reporting requirements
Ensure accuracy and completeness of reports for all shift activities, including maintenance needs and explanations for production failures
A Bachelor’s degree (BA/BS) in Business, Engineering, or a related field is preferred
3–5 years of supervisory experience in a continuous-operation industrial environment is required
Must be able to work after-hours, weekends, and holidays when necessary
Must be able to work a flexible schedule that starts later in the day and works through early evening
Outstanding customer service skills, including the ability to anticipate client groups’ needs, are required
Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills are preferred
Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite is required
Must be well-organized and flexible, with the ability to adapt to a fast-paced, changing, and varying work environment
Must be able to manage competing priorities, work independently to set and reset priorities, and achieve business results while ensuring a strong employee experience
Strong attention to detail and the ability to work effectively with people are required
