Job summary

Saint-Gobain is seeking a Material Handler in Shreveport, LA to unload inbound shipments, store products, and prepare goods for shipment. The role requires forklift certification, at least one year in manufacturing, and strict adherence to safety and inventory controls.

You will use RF equipment for picking, receiving, putaway and loading, participate in continuous improvement projects, and help maintain 5-S and OSHA standards across operations.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • One year or more of manufacturing experience.
  • Combination of academic and work experience acceptable.
  • Forklift certification and maintenance of certification required.

Responsibilities

  • Unload inbound shipments safely and move product to storage areas.
  • Efficiently stack and store products in appropriate areas.
  • Pull and prepare product for shipment with exact counts and types.
  • Perform picking duties to meet customer service requests.
  • Assist in physical inventory and maintain records.
  • Move product from staging into rail cars or trailers.
  • Use RF equipment for picking, receiving, putaway, and loading.
  • Inspect forklift/equipment daily and perform minor maintenance.
  • Follow OSHA and MSDS safety standards during unloading/loading.
  • Support stock rotation and participate in continuous improvement.
  • Report quality-related issues to the supervisor.

Job description

The Material Handler is responsible for assisting with unloading inbound shipments safely and moving product to storage locations.

Essential Duties:

  • Efficiently stack and store products in the appropriate areas
  • Ensure inbound and outbound shipments are accurate and free of damage
  • Pull and prepare product for shipment, ensuring the exact number and type of product is loaded and shipped.
  • Performing picking duties in an efficient manner that meets customer service requests
  • Assist in physical inventory
  • Efficiently move product from staging areas into rail cars or trailers
  • Use radio frequency equipment for picking, receiving, putaway, and load functions, as required
  • Daily, inspect and perform minor maintenance on the forklift or other equipment.
  • Keep appropriate records and reports to guarantee that tight inventory control and security are maintained.
  • Comply with OSHA and MSDS Standards to unload and load shipments safely.
  • Assist with proper stock rotation
  • Participate in continuous improvement projects and teams.
  • Report all quality-related issues to the Supervisor.
  • Maintain quality service by following the Organization Standards.
  • Participate in the Company's Safety program
  • Maintain 5-S standards and housekeeping.
  • Will be required to perform other duties as requested.

  • One (1) or more years of experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Any appropriate combination of academic and work experience
  • Must be forklift certified and maintain a valid certification
