Job summary

General Motors in Indiana seeks a Production Shift Leader at the Ft. Wayne Assembly Plant. The role supervises a medium/large team, guides production processes, and drives safety, quality, cost, and efficiency objectives.

The candidate will lead teams across shifts, coordinate with unions, and apply lean manufacturing principles to meet schedules while fostering teamwork and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years manufacturing experience.
• 2+ years people leadership experience.
• Ability to work all 3 shifts (1st, 2nd & 3rd).
• Over-time, weekends, holidays as needed.

Responsibilities

• Maintain awareness of standards, communicate department goals, and leverage resources to solve issues.
• Build and maintain good working relationships with employees, union and management, and administer National and Local Agreements with UAW.
• Implement systems that prevent recurrence of known issues.
• Responsible for effective use of personnel, material, and equipment.
• Participate in selecting and developing employees and building high-performing teams.
• Lead GMS processes across departments and support launches.
• Meet production cost schedules and maintain quality requirements.
• Promote safe work practices and ergonomic safety.
• Coach and mentor leaders to perform effectively.
• Ensure team receives adequate job instruction training.
• Achieve production schedules and product requirements using lean principles.
