Job summary

Evonik is seeking a supervisor for its Mapleton, Illinois site to oversee plant operations and guide a team of Chemical Operators. The candidate must have at least 5 years of plant operations experience or an Engineering degree with 3 years of work experience, strong leadership skills, and technical process knowledge. Supervises employees using machinery or equipment to assist with manufacturing, packaging, and other steps along a production line.

Responsibilities

• Ensures a safe and healthy work environment through vigilant enforcement of all applicable laws and regulations, including Evonik EHSQ and other policies.
• Provide leadership and guidance to Chemical Operators in the operation of manufacturing process equipment.
• Responsible for oversight of productivity on shift to achieve production targets.
• Communicate appropriate information to the Production Manager and Engineers.
• Organize shift schedules for team members and monitor coverage.

Requirements

• HS Diploma/GED plus five years or greater working in plant operations OR an Engineering degree in mechanical, chemical or industrial plus 3 years of experience
• Minimum of 3 years of strong leadership experience is a must
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Strong problem‑solving skills
• Exceptional organization and time‑management abilities
• Leadership skills like decision‑making, motivation and goal‑setting
• Conflict resolution skills
• Customer service skills
• Ability to work as part of a team and collaborate effectively
• Technical process knowledge; able to read P&ID, perform DCS operation, basic equipment knowledge and a willingness to learn plant operations.
• Expertise in safety regulations and permitting.
• Comfortable with workplace technology like Microsoft Office applications, SAP, DCS/HMI and other software.

Summary Compensation & Benefits

Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors. This range represents a good faith estimate for this position. Pay Range: $72,700 - $121,200.
