Stewart & Stevenson is hiring a Production Planner at 10750 Telge Road, Houston, TX 77095. The core responsibility of this role is to create and manage production schedules, optimize equipment utilization, and ensure on-time fulfillment of customer demands. The role involves close collaboration with production leaders, sales, and project management to prioritize work orders and communicate schedules effectively.

Responsibilities
  1. Build and update production schedules to ensure continuous plant operations and prevent downtime. Communicate production schedules based on demand from ASCP.
  2. Review shortage reports to ensure proper material planning.
  3. Monitor inventory levels, work-in-progress, and production capacity to identify potential bottlenecks or shortages.
  4. Plan and modify daily production schedules, coordinate with leaders to analyze root causes, and collaborate on solutions for cross-functional issues.
  5. Coordinate with manufacturing and supply chain to resolve scheduling conflicts, material constraints, and delays.
  6. Understand Bill of Materials and Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) related to engineering modifications.
  7. Plan routers based on capacity analysis for buy vs. make items.
  8. Communicate with project management, shipping, receiving, quality, and production teams regarding late shipments, expedited orders, or materials.
  9. Participate in weekly production meetings, providing project status updates and highlighting shortages.
  10. Assist in reviewing open purchase orders, kit-up, and shortage reports for production planning meetings.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management or related field, or a GED with 4-10 years of relevant experience.
  • Ability to work independently and communicate clearly in writing and verbally.
  • Strong problem-solving and reasoning skills.
  • Effective interpersonal skills to collaborate with diverse personalities.
  • Customer-focused attitude while adhering to company procedures.
  • Goal-oriented with good organizational skills to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to think beyond standard solutions and manage projects to completion.
  • Ability to build strong relationships with customers and colleagues.
Skills & Abilities

Computer Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.

Certificates & Licenses: APICS certification preferred. Experience with ERP systems (SAP or Oracle) and production planning in heavy equipment environments is required.

Physical Demands & Work Environment

Primarily office environment with occasional physical activities as detailed in the original description.
