Production Planner – Contract Manufacturing

About Sunday Riley:

Sunday Riley is a high-performance skincare brand driven by innovation, sustainability, and transformative results. As a female-founded, female-led company, we create formulations that blend cutting-edge science with the power of nature. As a workplace, we value Ownership, Accountability, Curiosity, and Agility. We’re looking for a skilled production planner to keep our supply chain running smoothly and our customers glowing.

Position Summary:

As a Production Planner, you’ll play a vital role in managing our contract manufacturing (CM) relationships and keeping production schedules on track for a wide portfolio of products. Sunday Riley does not do turnkey manufacturing with any CM's - all raw materials and components are procured in-house. This means that in order to meet your mix/fill schedule you will need to work hand-in-hand with teammates to make sure that all raw materials and packaging is on-site at the CM, or participate in arranging a transfer.

Your work ensures our products are produced on time, meet our quality standards, and support our financial goals. You’ll collaborate across demand planning, product development, QC, procurement, and logistics to keep the supply chain flowing efficiently and responsively.

Key Responsibilities

Production & Contract Manufacturing Management

  • Own and manage the Master Production Schedule (MPS) for core and promotional SKUs.
  • Act as the main point of contact for all Contract Manufacturers, ensuring timelines, deliverables, and standards are upheld.
  • Schedule and coordinate finished goods production runs, proactively resolving any production or supply issues.
  • Track lead times, capacity constraints, and batch scheduling to ensure timely product availability.
  • Monitor and follow up on change orders, technical issues, and supply shortages impacting production timelines.
  • Arrange for transfers of raw materials if another facility needs it.
  • Work closely with Packaging Procurement and Raw Materials team members to make sure that your inventory is in stock to cover all production runs.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with Product Development and QA teams to ensure formulas are correctly transferred and manufactured according to spec.
  • Partner with warehouse and 3PL teams to align inbound deliveries and manage stock flow.
  • Coordinate with procurement to ensure timely raw material availability for scheduled production.
  • Collaborate with finance to support cost optimization and forecast accuracy.

Quality & Inventory Control

  • Ensure all production lots meet QA specifications; track and flag non-conformances or deviations with appropriate teams.
  • Organize and lead monthly supply and inventory reconciliation meetings, focusing on minimizing excess, obsolete, or aging inventory.
  • Maintain integrity of ERP data including SKU costs, BOMs, production orders, and vendor details.

Data-Driven Supply Chain Optimization

  • Analyze historical and real-time production data to drive forecast accuracy, safety stock levels, and supply efficiency.
  • Support NPD launches and product phase-outs, ensuring smooth supply chain transitions.
  • Identify risks to production (e.g., CM delays, raw material shortages) and implement proactive contingency plans.
  • Recommend process improvements to reduce cost, increase speed, and optimize communication across the supply chain.

What You’ll Bring

  • 5+ years of experience in production planning, contract manufacturing, or supply chain management, ideally in beauty, CPG, food, or apparel sectors.
  • Strong experience managing external vendors and CMs with a clear focus on production timelines and quality.
  • Proficiency in ERP systems (e.g., NetSuite or similar); strong spreadsheet and data analysis skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving, follow-through, and communication skills.
  • A strong sense of curiosity, urgency, and ownership — you follow up, follow through, and never let things fall through the cracks.
  • Ability to thrive in a remote, fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment with multiple stakeholders and shifting priorities.

What We Offer

  • Remote-first work culture with flexible hours
  • Competitive salary and comprehensive benefits (medical, dental, vision)
  • Access to professional development and training
