Job description

Anacortes, WA

  • On-Site
  • Full-Time
  • Non-Exempt / Hourly
  • Reports to VP of Operations

T Bailey, LLC is a heavy civil and industrial contractor based in Anacortes, Washington, specializing in structural steel, field-erected tanks, and industrial coatings. We're looking for a detail-oriented Production Planner to become the connective tissue between our Bidding, Supply Chain, and Production teams - keeping the fabrication shop running in the right sequence, at the right time, and ahead of the problems that derail a schedule.

This is a staff support role, not a supervisory one - you'll lead through scheduling data, clear communication, and cross-functional coordination rather than direct authority. If you're the kind of person who can talk shop with floor leaders in the morning and model capacity scenarios in Excel that afternoon, we want to hear from you.

What You'll Do
  • Develop and maintain the master production schedule across fabrication, welding, and finishing/assembly - balancing customer orders, capacity, and material availability
  • Release work orders in priority sequence and keep Zone Supervisors and Cell Coordinators aligned on daily and weekly plans
  • Monitor schedule execution in real time, catching delays, capacity constraints, or material shortages before they become delivery failures
  • Coordinate with Supply Chain on material readiness, purchase order lead times, and inbound delivery timing
  • Work with Quality to schedule around inspection holds, rework queues, and first-article approvals
  • Partner with Bidding and Project Managers to set realistic delivery commitments and flag capacity constraints early
  • Model the impact of new orders, staffing changes, or equipment downtime on the production schedule
  • Contribute to lean improvement efforts targeting flow, lead time reduction, and WIP management
  • Maintain a visible, easy-to-understand schedule board or digital tool for production leaders on the floor
What You Bring
  • 2–5 years of experience in production scheduling, planning, or operations coordination in a manufacturing environment; metal fabrication or job shop experience strongly preferred
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing workflows, job sequencing, and capacity planning concepts
  • Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles - pull scheduling, kanban, takt time, and visual management
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel for scheduling analysis, capacity modeling, and reporting
  • Ability to read and interpret work order travelers, routers, and basic engineering documents
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and speak credibly with both shop floor leaders and plant management
  • A steady head for adapting quickly when priorities shift, and a track record of resolving problems before they escalte
NICE TO HAVE
  • APICS/CPIM/CSCP certification or a related college degree
  • Experience with SmartSheets or similar scheduling and reporting tools
A DAY IN THE OFFICE
  • On-site in Anacortes, primarily office/administrative with regular time on the production floor to verify job status, confirm material staging, and talk directly with crews
  • Standard business hours with flexibility to respond to schedule-impacting issues as they arise
  • Comfortable working in a typical fabrication shop environment (noise, moving equipment, varying temperatures); reasonable accommodations available in accordance with company policy

Join a team where your scheduling expertise directly shapes how steel gets built - from bid to delivery.
