Job summary

Steel & O'Brien Manufacturing in Arcade, NY is seeking a Production Planner to coordinate schedules, balance demand, and ensure materials and resources align for on-time delivery. Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain, and adjust production schedules to meet demand while optimizing efficiency and costs.
  • Review orders, contracts, drawings, and docs to determine production needs.
  • Coordinate activities across departments and adjust schedules with changes.
  • Partner with Purchasing, Manufacturing, Engineering, and Quality to ensure smooth flow.
  • Analyze production data to identify trends and improvement opportunities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Production Planner

We're looking for a detail-oriented Production Planner to coordinate production schedules, balance customer demand, and ensure materials, resources, and production activities are aligned for on-time delivery. In this role, you'll collaborate with Purchasing, Manufacturing, Engineering, and Quality to optimize production flow, solve scheduling challenges, and support continuous improvement in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

What You'll Do
  • Develop, maintain, and adjust production schedules to meet customer demand while optimizing efficiency, inventory levels, and production costs.
  • Review customer orders, contract specifications, drawings, and project documentation to determine production requirements.
  • Coordinate production activities across departments and revise schedules as needed due to engineering changes, material shortages, work backlogs, or shifting priorities.
  • Partner closely with Purchasing, Manufacturing, Engineering, and Quality to ensure smooth production flow and timely project completion.
  • Analyze production data, identify trends and improvement opportunities, and prepare reports to support operational performance.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
What You'll Bring
  • 3-5 years of production planning experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong knowledge of ERP systems and Microsoft Excel.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, production schedules, and bills of materials.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and adapt in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

$62,500 - $70,000, depending upon experience.
