Job description

All About You

The Production Operator - Battery Assembly is a fast-paced position engaged in building multi-cell and single-cell batteries by performing all assembly operations within the production department, including Battery Assembly, Cell Finishing, MNo2 Traditional & Amelia, etc. Initially, these positions will start in Battery Assembly but must be willing to learn and move into other departments as needed. All tasks must support the policies and procedures of the Company. This position reports directly to the Team Leader of the assigned unit.

Requirements

1. Intercellular welding, ensuring good weld nuggets and proper cell positioning.
2. Perform any other assignments and duties as assigned.
3. Attach harness assemblies through tab-to-cell or tab-to-tab welds, ensuring proper weld nuggets and alignment.
4. Fill top shells with hot melt or epoxy, operating dispensing equipment using foot pedals and/or dual hand controls, dispensing proper shot size and ratio.
5. Use ultrasonic welds to convert to battery cases by depressing foot pedals.
6. Package cells with hot melt or shrink material.
7. Work near moving mechanical parts, with exposure to chemicals used in the process.
8. Gauge and test batteries as required, performing tests per specifications.
9. Package approved batteries in specified packaging materials.
10. Maintain certification on jobs in the assigned work area.
11. Perform assemblies requiring close attention to detail, with mental/visual effort.
12. Maintain 6S in the work area.
13. Assemble components into cells and/or battery packs.

Responsibilities

1. Learn to operate a wider variety of equipment.
2. See and differentiate colors; pass a color blindness test.
3. Lift trays of cells/batteries regularly; sit or stand up to 50% of work time depending on operation.
4. Work with precision equipment requiring close tolerances.
5. Wear safety gear as required.
6. Meet established daily production numbers.
7. Use small hand tools for assembly.
8. Operate assembly equipment to meet customer requirements.
9. Possess a high school diploma or GED; vocational education preferred.
10. Read, write, and communicate in English; perform simple math.
11. Manufacturing experience is highly desired.
12. Willing to work any shift, including overtime, weekends, and holidays if required.
13. Undergo 2-4 weeks of on-the-job training to achieve certification.
