Morgan Advanced Materials is seeking a practical, hands-on Machine Operator for a short-term contract in Hayward, CA. You’ll set up and run semi-automatic and manual machines, engage in setups, inspections, and troubleshooting in a machine shop environment.

Qualifications

  • Basic math skills (algebra and geometry) and attention to detail.
  • Confidence setting up and operating machines, not just running them.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and run a range of machines including lapping, polishing, and tool grinding.
  • Read and interpret blueprints and work instructions.
  • Work to tight tolerances (down to four decimal places).
  • Carry out first-piece inspections to ensure work meets spec.
  • Spot and troubleshoot mechanical issues on machines.
  • Keep workspace clean and organized; follow safety procedures.

Job description

We're looking for a practical, hands‑on Machine Operator who are looking for a short term contract.

The Role

You’ll be setting up and running a mix of semi‑automatic and manual machines in a machine shop environment. This includes specialist work like lapping, polishing, and tool sharpening. It’s not just about running equipment; you’ll get involved in setups, inspections, and troubleshooting when things aren’t quite right.

What You’ll Do
  • Set up and run a range of machines including lapping, polishing, and tool grinding
  • Use cutting tools such as diamond grinding wheels
  • Read and interpret blueprints and work instructions
  • Work to tight tolerances (down to four decimal places)
  • Carry out first‑piece inspections to make sure work meets spec
  • Spot and troubleshoot mechanical issues on machines
  • Keep your work area clean and organized
  • Follow all safety procedures (non‑negotiable)
  • Pitch in with other tasks as needed
Qualifications
  • High school diploma (or equivalent)
  • Experience with machining equipment, tools, and gauges

  • Basic math skills (algebra and geometry, nothing too exotic)
  • Confidence setting up and operating machines, not just running them
  • A detail‑focused mindset—especially when working to tight tolerances

What You’ll Get
  • Schedule: Monday‑Friday start time 5:30 AM or 7:00 AM, 8 1/2 hour shift with a 30 minute unpaid lunch.
