Job summary

Morgan Advanced Materials is seeking a practical, hands-on Machine Operator for a short-term contract in Hayward, CA. You’ll set up and run semi-automatic and manual machines, engage in setups, inspections, and troubleshooting in a machine shop environment.

Your role involves lapping, polishing, and tool grinding, reading blueprints, and ensuring parts meet exact tolerances. A strong safety mindset and willingness to learn new processes are required.

Qualifications

• Must have experience operating machining equipment, tools and gauges.
• Ability to read blueprints and interpret tolerances to tight specs.
• Basic math skills (algebra and geometry) and attention to detail.
• Confidence setting up and operating machines, not just running them.
• Willingness to learn new machines and processes.

Responsibilities

• Set up and run a range of machines including lapping, polishing, and tool grinding.
• Read and interpret blueprints and work instructions.
• Work to tight tolerances (down to four decimal places).
• Carry out first-piece inspections to ensure work meets spec.
• Spot and troubleshoot mechanical issues on machines.
• Keep workspace clean and organized; follow safety procedures.
