Job description

AMETEK is a light industrial medical device component manufacturer in Montevideo, MN.

The Production Operator role is responsible for running numerical control machines which have been previously set up to automatically perform manufacturing processes. The role also examines products for defects and completeness, using microscopes and measurement equipment.

Duties and Responsibilities Include:

  • Read blueprints, work instructions, and drawings to determine visual inspection criteria, workpiece measurements, and material requirements.
  • Read and verify document kit and enter information on appropriate paperwork to track progress.
  • Set up microscope over measuring instruments, which may include minor setup of spools, lasers, or other machines.
  • Position, adjust, and secure workpieces in a mandrel, fixture, or automatic feeding mechanism.
  • Activate machine to automatically perform manufacturing processes.
  • Monitor machine operation and control panel displays to detect workpiece defects or machine malfunctions.
  • Select parts randomly according to control charts.
  • Visually examine products for defects and completeness using a microscope.
  • Inspect workpieces for defects and measure workpieces using a rule, template, or other measuring instruments to determine accuracy of machine operation.
  • May sort or rework parts.
  • May replace and adjust cutting devices, spools, or tools.
  • Prepare, fill, label, and transport packages per work instruction.
  • Remove and transport finished workpieces and packages as specified, making sure to protect material from damage while handling.
  • Obtain materials, trays, and carriers.
  • Return excess materials to inventory.
  • Perform any other related duties and assignments as required.

Position Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED is required.
  • Manufacturing experience is preferred.
  • Ability to read and understand basic instructions, such as shop packets, standard work instructions, and various visual aids.
  • Ability to use basic math and measuring devices.
  • Good manual dexterity is helpful.
  • Good time management to work at a good pace, executing work orders and demands.
  • Ability to handle basic tools.
