Job description

Production Operator - 2nd Shift (Finance)

The Production Operator role is responsible for operating numerical control machines that have been previously set up to perform manufacturing processes automatically. The role also involves examining products for defects and completeness using microscopes and measurement equipment.

The duties and responsibilities include:

  1. Reading blueprints, work instructions, and drawings to determine inspection criteria, measurements, and material requirements.
  2. Verifying document kits and entering information on appropriate paperwork to track progress.
  3. Setting up microscopes and other measuring instruments, including minor setup of spools, lasers, or machines.
  4. Positioning, adjusting, and securing workpieces in fixtures or automatic feeding mechanisms.
  5. Activating machines to perform manufacturing processes.
  6. Monitoring machine operation and control panel displays for defects or malfunctions.
  7. Randomly selecting parts according to control charts.
  8. Visually inspecting products for defects and completeness.
  9. Measuring workpieces using rulers, templates, or other instruments to ensure accuracy.
  10. Sorting or reworking parts as needed.
  11. Replacing and adjusting cutting devices, spools, or tools.
  12. Preparing, labeling, and transporting packages as per work instructions.
  13. Handling finished workpieces and packages carefully to prevent damage.
  14. Obtaining materials, trays, and carriers.
  15. Returning excess materials to inventory.
  16. Performing other related duties as required.

Position requirements include:

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Ability to understand basic instructions and visual aids.
  • Basic math and measurement skills.
  • Good manual dexterity.
  • Effective time management skills.
  • Ability to handle basic tools.
